Responsibilities
● Plan, coordinate, supervise and develop activities of the legal
team, in coordination with Project Manager and Technical
manager - Protection. Support the development of work plans
consistent with the goals and objectives and ensure qualitative
and timely planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
of activities and services and adherence to
protection standards
● Provide technical guidance and support to Lawyers and Legal
Assistants ensuring quality in the implementation of activities
and services 
● Conduct case audits to ensure that cases meet and maintain
compliance with established SOPs and minimum standards in legal
assistance; provide feedback to Lawyers and Legal Assistants
● Ensure that a referral pathway for legal cases is established
and effective
● Participate in the recruitment of legal team staffs and provide
feedback on staff performance, expectations and areas for
growth and professional development
● Advise technically INTERSOS legal intervention in the relevant
area of coverage, including legal assistance, representation
and counselling
● Regularly analyze data, elaborate on trends and legal situation
to provide timely and quality reporting over legal services
provided, as needed by project- or mission-management
● Identify capacity building needs of legal staffs by assessing
knowledge and skills, and provide learning opportunities
through training, workshops and/or simulation exercises. Ensure
on the job coaching and mentoring
● Guarantee that legal services comply with internal and donor
principles and standards, as well as with the other Core
Humanitarian Standards(CHS)
● Design and facilitate trainings for other staff members or
external stakeholders (e.g. authorities, local partners,
targeted communities) on legal matters and legislation
pertaining to civilians’ protection
● Support the Project Manager and Technical manager - Protection
in developing and updating protection tools and training
materials in order to meet the project’s requirements
● In collaboration with the Protection Monitors support the
development of the protection monitoring methodology and
analysis
● Conduct regular field participatory protection monitoring
activities, using an age, gender and diversity approach, in
order to fully understand protection concerns and priorities
● Ensure monthly / quarterly trend reports are drafted based on
Protection Risks and trends identified through Protection
Monitoring
● Under the supervision of the Technical manager - Protection,
lead the development and implementation of legal SOPs at
mission level adapting the internal guidelines to the local
context
● Participate in case meetings for complex cases with legal
issue, 
● Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant
partners and other project stakeholders working in the project
areas
● Proactively participate in relevant working groups and
coordination meetings

Qualifications
- Advanced University Degree in Law. Registration as lawyer
preferable
- Minimum three years of relevant professional experience (of
which at least 1 year in a supervisory role) 
- Previous working experience with IDPs, refugees and returnees
- Respect and a non-discriminatory attitude, empathetic
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- Good leadership skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles
- English mandatory (reading, speaking, writing).
- Fluent in Arabic (reading, speaking, writing).

Specific Vacancy Requirements
Duty Station : Damascus (responsible for RD, Hama and Idleb), (duty station will be 50% Damascus + 50% Hama)
