Responsibilities
1. Participate in the continuous needs assessment component of the MHPSS integrated services
approach.
2. Provide direct MHPSS services in compliance with IOM community based MHPSS approach and
IASC MHPSS guidelines.
3. Contribute to the planning, rollout, and monitoring of MHPSS activities at all four levels of MHPSS
Pyramid of intervention, including the basics need level: promoting do no harm rules for all
frontliners, PFA trainings, and information sharing about services.
• At the family and community level, including facilitation of group work, including sociorelational,
sport, and cultural activities, in line with the IOM manual on CB MHPSS;
informal education and learning on MHPSS, awareness sessions, campaigns.
• At the focused needs level including individual and group counselling, support groups,
case management.
• At the specialised needs service level, including referral to quality psychiatric and clinical
psychological services
4. Organise field ad monitoring visits.
5. Organise feedback and monitoring mechanisms.
6. Ensure confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained with regard to confidential project
and beneficiary information.
7. Ensure that hardcopy and electronic information systems are maintained, especially the
important notes related to key monitoring and implementation.
8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the line supervisor.Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project development and budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation tools.
Qualifications
Education:
• University degree in Social Sciences majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Psychology,
Sociology and Mental Health, or related studies, from an accredited academic university or
institute with four years relevant professional.
• Precious participation in the IOM corporate training program in ‘Psychosocial interventions in
Emergency and Displacement; Psychosocial Support and Dialogue will be considered an asset.
Specific Vacancy Requirements
• At least three years of relevant professional experience in displacement and post conflict settings.
• Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking
and other vulnerable groups.
• Knowledge of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) MHPSS in emergencies guidelines and
associated products (eg IASC Assessment toolkit, Health, Protection and CCCM booklets, IOM
manual on community based MHPSS in Emergencies and Displacement).
• Experience in conducting assessments, using screening tools and creating individual care plans for
clients seeking mental health services.
• Experience in liaising with government authorities, other national/international technical
counterparts and NGOs, and building effective partnerships.
• Experience working with young people (children and adolescents)
• Willingness to conduct constant travel within the Area of Responsibility.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to formulate relevant programmatic inputs.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional
backgrounds, ability to handle confidential matters.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to analyse complex problems and identify and convey clear, rapid solutions.
• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, excel, Power Point.
