Qualifications
•
Minimum Bachelor’s degree
•
Practical experience (minimum three years) of security assessment, planning and implementation of procedures, ideally in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations
•
1 year of field experience
•
Experience in team management
•
Proven influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences including in complex and stressful circumstances
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the capacity to remain calm under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities
•
Ability to advice and support field staff in a consultative manner
•
Able to advise and train on specialist skills to other departments / teams
•
Proven ability to organise work effectively and supporting others
•
Successfully manage conflicting priorities
•
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work
•
Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts
•
Willingness to travel at short notice, and often in difficult circumstances
•
Demonstrate an interest in, and an understanding of Oxfam’s approach to security management and collect context information on daily basis
•
Take responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership)
•

An understanding of the importance of gender in humanitarian work.

Ability to speak English and Arabic, and acceptable English writing skills

Good understanding of how NGOs in Syria operate. Familiar with governorates of respective hub

Able to forecast scenarios based on limited information. Knows what non-negotiable elements and balance good enough approaches are.
