About us
Médecins du Monde is an impartial humanitarian non-governmental organisation, independent of all political, military, religious or economic influence. It provides primarily medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, violence, natural disaster, famine, drought, poverty and exclusion. Through advocacy and on-the-ground action undertaken in both France and around thirty other countries, Médecins du Monde provides care to the most vulnerable populations, identifies barriers to access to healthcare and violations of human dignity and human rights, and campaigns for lasting improvements to healthcare policies from which everyone can benefit.
MdM has had a presence in Syria since 2025. MdM France has started operations in North Syria (Aleppo, Idlib) and is starting activities in Deraa and Rural Damascus. The project aims to support 2 PHCCs: Al Hara (in Deraa) and Hejira (in Rural Damascus). MdM has one base in Aleppo and in the process of opening the new coordination office in Damascus.
