Responsibilities
General Role:
The Stabilization Support Unit (SSU) / Stabilization Organization is seeking to recruit a Protection Case Worker to support the implementation of protection activities and case management services for vulnerable individuals and families in the targeted areas of Al-Safera, Manbij, and other areas.
The Protection Case Worker will be responsible for identifying protection risks and vulnerabilities, conducting assessments, providing case management and referrals, and ensuring timely and safe access to available services in accordance with humanitarian principles and protection standards. The role contributes to strengthening protection responses through direct engagement with affected communities, maintaining confidentiality, and promoting dignity, safety, and non-discrimination for all beneficiaries.
The position requires close coordination with protection teams, service providers, local authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure effective follow-up of cases and the delivery of quality protection services aligned with organizational policies and international protection standards.
Contract Duration: Until December 2026
Duty Stations: Al-Safera – Manbij (mobile protection teams)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Identify individuals and families at risk of high protection concerns and assess their needs;
- Conduct protection risk assessments using approved tools;
- Develop and implement case action plans jointly with the individual or caregiver;
- Priorities interventions related to safety and risk mitigation;
- Maintain accurate and confidential case files;
- Carry out necessary follow-up and update case plans as needed;
- Close cases appropriately once risks have been mitigated or referral objectives have been achieved;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of referral pathways and available services;
- Facilitate referrals to health, legal, education, and other protection services;
- Refer cases meeting specialized intervention criteria without delay;
- Obtain informed consent before sharing any information;
- Advocate with service providers when access barriers arise;
- Report service gaps through supervisory channels;
- Apply the "do no harm" principle in all interactions;
- Ensure confidentiality and data protection at all times;
- Apply child protection standards when working with children;
- Maintain professional boundaries and work within the scope of competence;
- Support the implementation of structured activities or awareness sessions in community centers as needed;
- Participate in mobile team tasks when assigned, while adhering to confidentiality and protection standards;
- Contribute to awareness-raising activities and the identification of individuals at risk of protection concerns;
- Carry out other protection-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, within the scope of competence;
- Maintain accurate and secure case documentation according to approved standards;
- Prepare periodic reports on case management activities and referral outcomes (without identifying information);
- Contribute to documenting trends, challenges, and lessons learned to support program improvement;
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) case management principles and standards;
- Ability to handle sensitive cases with confidentiality, professionalism, and empathy;
- Experience with referral systems and coordination with various entities;
- Strong communication, coordination, and report-writing skills;
- Ability to work independently and within a team, and in challenging environments;
- Familiarity with implementing structured programs or curricula is an added advantage.
