Responsibilities
General Role:
The Stabilization Support Unit (SSU) / Stabilization Organization is seeking to recruit Psychosocial Support (PSS) Counselors to work within community centers and project intervention areas in Al-Safira and Manbij.
The position holder will be responsible for providing psychosocial support and case management services to individuals and families benefiting from the project through conducting psychosocial assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, providing psychosocial support sessions, and ensuring regular follow-up of cases to address beneficiaries’ psychosocial needs in accordance with recognized humanitarian and professional standards.
The PSS Counselor will also contribute to strengthening referral mechanisms and coordination with relevant stakeholders, delivering psychoeducation activities, and supporting the improvement of the quality of protection and psychosocial support services provided under the project.
This position requires a high level of professional competence in psychosocial assessment, case management, and effective communication, as well as the ability to work with vulnerable and crisis-affected populations while adhering to humanitarian principles, beneficiary protection standards, non-discrimination, and professional confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct early detection and identification of cases requiring psychosocial support services in accordance with approved operational procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive and integrated psychosocial assessments using approved tools and methodologies, including identifying psychosocial challenges and mental health concerns based on recognized classification systems.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with beneficiaries and in coordination with the Department Coordinator, ensuring appropriate intervention pathways and response mechanisms for each case.
- Provide professional core psychosocial support services through individual counseling sessions and focused group support or counseling sessions in line with approved standards.
- Conduct home visits when necessary and appropriate, ensuring systematic documentation within the case management system.
- Manage referrals to specialized and supportive services (including specialized mental health, legal, social, livelihoods, and basic services) to ensure beneficiaries’ needs are addressed according to intervention plans.
- Develop and regularly update community service mapping within the area of coverage to strengthen referral pathways and service integration.
- Prepare and submit monthly work plans outlining planned activities and interventions within the designated timeframe to the Department Coordinator and Center Coordinator.
- Manage and update the case management database regularly in coordination with the Department Coordinator, ensuring the accuracy and quality of data entered.
- Follow up on the implementation of care plans, including monitoring referral outcomes, until interventions are completed and cases are formally closed according to established standards.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments based on assessment findings and beneficiary progress.
- Design and facilitate psychosocial psychoeducation sessions for individuals and groups and contribute to facilitating Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) when required.
- Adhere to the policies, procedures, values, and principles of the Stabilization Support Unit to ensure the delivery of high-quality and professional services.
- Prepare and submit accurate narrative and statistical reports within established deadlines.
- Strictly maintain confidentiality and data protection standards, ensuring the secure management of beneficiary records in accordance with beneficiary protection policies.
- Actively participate in capacity-building activities, training programs, and relevant coordination meetings.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the direct supervisor.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Psychosocial Support (PSS), case management, mental health, protection, or related fields, preferably with local or international humanitarian and development organizations.
- Good knowledge of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) principles, standards, and guidance used in humanitarian settings.
- Proven experience in conducting psychosocial assessments, developing individualized care plans, managing cases, and providing follow-up services.
- Strong understanding of referral mechanisms, multi-sectoral case management, and beneficiary protection principles.
- Experience in delivering individual and group psychosocial support sessions and implementing psychoeducation activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally with vulnerable and crisis-affected populations while applying protection and “Do No Harm” principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build professional relationships and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong planning, organizational, time-management, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, email, digital work tools, and relevant case management databases.
- Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written); knowledge of English is considered an asset.
- Willingness and ability to conduct fieldwork and travel within project intervention areas.
- Preference will be given to candidates residing in the duty station or able to access it regularly.
