Responsibilities
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Water Sampling & Testing
Conduct regular field visits to water sources, distribution points, water trucks, and households to collect water samples.
Perform routine physical and chemical testing of water, including Free Residual Chlorine (FRC), pH, turbidity, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
Conduct microbiological water testing (e.g., Fecal Coliforms / E. coli) where required, using field testing kits (DelAgua or similar).
2. Chlorination Monitoring & Technical Support
Monitor and inspect the chlorination process at water stations and during water trucking activities to ensure proper dosages.
Provide technical guidance to water station operators and water truck drivers on appropriate chlorination techniques and safety procedures.
Immediately report any contamination, low chlorine levels, or critical water quality deviations to the WASH Officer/Assistant.
3. Data Collection & Reporting
Accurately record all water quality testing parameters, locations, and timestamps using designated logbooks or mobile data collection tools (KoBo Toolbox).
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly water quality monitoring reports to the line manager.
Maintain updated inventory records for water testing reagents, chemicals, and laboratory equipment, ensuring timely requests for replenishment.
4. Community Engagement & Hygiene Alignment
Conduct household-level water safety tracking and sensitize beneficiaries on safe water storage and handling practices.
Coordinate closely with the Community Mobilization / Hygiene Promotion team to raise awareness based on water testing findings.
5. Maintenance & Safety
Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of all water testing equipment and kits.
Adhere strictly to safety standards, hazardous material handling guidelines (for chlorine/reagents), and environmental protection measures.


Qualifications
Skills:
Languages:

Arabic — Fluency (writing, reading, speaking).

English — Basic to intermediate understanding (for technical terms and equipment manuals).
Computing:

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel) and familiarity with mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoBo Toolbox).
Abilities:
Analytical Skills: Ability and willingness to travel extensively in rural or rugged field conditions daily.
Communication: Strong reporting, communication, negotiating, facilitating, and presenting skills.
Other: Attention to detail, accuracy in reporting numbers, high commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding protocols.

Specific Vacancy Requirements

Minimum 3 year of work experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably within WASH programming
