Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Immunization Programme Strengthening:
• Support planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of routine immunization services.
• Support development and implementation of outreach activities, mobile teams and catch-up vaccination activities.
• Assist governorates and districts in strengthening microplanning, service delivery and monitoring.
• Monitor immunization performance, identify operational gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Support implementation of new vaccine introductions and other national immunization priorities.
• Promote integration of immunization services within primary health care and other health programmes.
2. Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance:
• Support implementation and monitoring of AFP, measles and other vaccine-preventable disease surveillance activities.
• Assist health authorities in improving surveillance quality, reporting completeness and timely investigation of priority cases.
• Participate in outbreak investigations and response activities as required.
• Analyze surveillance data and provide recommendations for programme improvement.
3. Immunization Campaigns and Outbreak Response:
• Support planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of vaccination campaigns and outbreak response activities.
• Monitor campaign readiness and implementation quality.
• Support independent monitoring, rapid convenience monitoring and post-campaign evaluation.
• Ensure appropriate follow-up of missed populations and implementation of corrective actions.
4. Technical Coordination and Capacity Building:
• Provide technical support to governorate and district health authorities.
• Coordinate with ORGANIZATION programmes, UNICEF, NGOs and other partners to facilitate implementation of immunization and public health activities.
• Organize and support technical trainings, supportive supervision and on-the-job mentoring.
• Participate in assessments, reviews, monitoring visits and technical missions.
5. Programme Monitoring and Field Support:
• Monitor implementation of ORGANIZATION-supported activities and projects.
• Support monitoring of partners and review technical reports.
• Assist in monitoring distribution and utilization of vaccines, cold chain equipment, medical supplies and other ORGANIZATION-supported commodities when required.
• Support collection, validation and analysis of programme data for decision-making.
• Conduct regular field visits and provide recommendations for programme improvement.
6. Other Public Health Responsibilities:
• Emergency preparedness and response.
• Integrated disease surveillance.
• Health information systems.
• Primary health care strengthening.
• Health facility assessments.
• Capacity building activities.
• Monitoring and evaluation.
• Any other public health activities assigned by ORGANIZATION.
Reporting
• Submit monthly progress reports summarizing activities, achievements, challenges and recommendations.
• Prepare monthly supervisory visits plan and share it with the supervisor.
• Report immediately on major public health events, outbreaks or operational issues requiring ORGANIZATION attention.
• Participate in regular technical meetings and coordination mechanisms.
Expected Deliverables
• Monthly progress report submitted by the 5th of each month.
• Monthly workplan submitted by the 25th of each month.
• Technical reports/email following field missions, supervisory visits, outbreak investigations and assessments.
• Timely reports for immunization campaigns, outbreak response activities and other assigned programme interventions.
• Updated monitoring data and recommendations to support programme performance improvement.
Qualifications
Education:
Medical, pharmaceutical, public health, or any other related medical education.
Experience:
3 minimum years of related medical experience.
English language:
candidates need to have a good knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking, with an ability to write technical reports.
Specific Vacancy Requirements
Additional details:
candidates need to be able to conduct regular site and monitoring visits inside Deir-Ez-Zour and its rural areas.
