Human Aid and Development (HAND) is a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organization dedicated to creating positive and sustainable change for vulnerable and underserved communities. Guided by the principles of inclusion, accountability, dignity, and sustainability, HAND works to expand opportunities, strengthen resilience, and improve access to essential services for people affected by crisis and other challenging circumstances.
Building on its regional humanitarian experience, HAND established its operational presence in Syria in 2025 and is expanding its programmes to respond to evolving community needs and contribute to recovery and development efforts. HAND works with children, young people, women, persons with disabilities, returnees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups through an integrated, multisectoral approach covering Education, Youth Development and TVET, Child Protection and Psychosocial Support, Food Security and Livelihoods, Shelter and Infrastructure Rehabilitation, WASH, and Emergency Response and Basic Assistance.
With its main office in Damascus and operational presence across Damascus and Rural Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Idleb, Hama, Latakia, and Tartous, HAND works closely with communities, local authorities, national and international partners, donors, and other stakeholders to deliver relevant, quality, and sustainable programmes. HAND is officially registered and licensed to operate in Syria under License No. 173/2025, and is also registered and operational in Lebanon.
