Responsibilities
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day technical maintenance of the Syria Programme fleet and mechanical assets, working within the Fleet Department and reporting directly to the Fleet Officer. The role covers scheduled and reactive maintenance for light vehicles, heavy goods vehicles and mech plant equipment, ensuring assets remain safe, serviceable and available for operations. The maintenance officer will work in a workshop environment, manage spare parts for both fleet and mechanical assets, maintain maintenance trackers, and produce regular reports on preventative and corrective maintenance. The current asset profile includes: (subject to expansion)

-Light vehicles: Mitsubishi L200 pick-ups, Hyundai Staria, Hyundai H100
-Heavy / HGV assets: Hyundai flatbed with crane, Scania Class 1 truck, low-loader trailer
-Mechanical / plant assets: Volvo mech units comprising front loaders and excavator

The Maintenance Officer will support workshop organisation, quality of repairs, parts control and documentation so that downtime is minimised and maintenance standards are applied consistently across all asset types.


Qualifications
•Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a vehicle workshop
•Valid category B Syria Driving Licence essential. Category D1 and D2 Driving license advantageous
•Technical diploma or vocational qualification in automotive mechanics, heavy vehicle mechanics, plant / construction equipment maintenance, or a closely related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
•Proven experience in fleet maintenance, covering light vehicles and preferably HGV / commercial vehicles.
•Demonstrable experience working in a workshop environment, including job cards, servicing schedules, quality checks and safe workshop practice.
•Practical experience in identification, specification, stock control and use of spare parts for both road fleet and mechanical / plant assets.
•Experience updating maintenance trackers / logs and reporting on preventative maintenance, services completed, outstanding works and asset condition.
•Sound technical knowledge of diesel vehicles, hydraulic systems, braking systems, engines, transmissions and common workshop diagnostic methods.
•Ability to read and apply OEM service intervals and technical specifications for Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Volvo equipment.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Office, or equivalent systems used for maintenance tracking and parts records.
•Good written and verbal communication skills in [Arabic / English], sufficient to complete job cards, parts lists and maintenance reports.
•Willingness and ability to work in the Syria operating context, including field / workshop locations as required.
