Responsibilities
Scope of Work:
The PHP (Public Health Promotion) Assistant in Oxfam will assist the PHP Officer/s and WASH Program Manager in ensuring appropriate partner and community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion) services and facilities, support in development of IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials and behaviour change communication to address prioritised public health risks. S/He will be also responsible for promoting the use and maintenance of WASH facilities and healthy hygiene practices.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: (Include but not limited to)
 Assist the PHP Officers to coordinate, liaise with and support field teams to ensure coherent and consistent programming and provide day to day support to volunteers and community focal points.
 Support coordination with key stakeholders including contractors, ministry focal points etc.
 Evaluate PHP needs through field visits, interviews and focus group discussions and collecting and analyzing secondary data.
 Design and plan PHP activities integrated with PHE (Public Health Engineering), livelihoods, gender, protection and advocacy.
 Mobilise displaced communities and community leaders to coordinate and manage the Oxfam WASH interventions; Support communities to elect WASH committees and WASH focal points from the collective shelters, schools, and targeted communities, (responsible for monitoring the implementation, disease prevalence and evaluation of the planned activities).
 Administrate payment requests, distribution lists and attendance lists of PHP team.
 Prepare, upload and file relevant documents according to agreed Oxfam procedures
 Prepare progress reports vs plans and support in preparing monthly monitoring PHP reports.
 Reflect on programme experience and contribute to PHP /WASH evaluations and learning review.


Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum University degree and experience in either: public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, community water supply and sanitation. Academic or professional qualifications are essential.
 Experience in either Development or Humanitarian sector is preferable
 Very good knowledge of humanitarian PHP is preferable.



Skills and Competencies:
 Sound understanding of a community development approach to WASH
 Experience in designing IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials and interactive learning tools
 Strong communication and coordination skills.
 Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of different groups of the community.
 Good, solid report writing skills
 Good competency in Microsoft Office applications
 Good competency in Photoshop, illustrator, or other design softwares
 Good written and spoken English and Arabic is essential
 Good organizational and work planning skills
 Detail oriented and good record keeper
 Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in all aspects of working
 Capacity to travel if needed
