Responsibilities
- In close coordination with the Shelter unit, the Topographic survey should consolidate technical requirements/specifications for required Civil shelter needs, rehabilitation, infrastructure, WASH projects, etc. according to the planned shelter requirement related to the Civil works within camps, urban areas, and rural settings in Northeast Syria or any other tasks related to shelter activities as followings:
- Conduct site visits with the respective units. Facilitate joint assessments, needs analysis, and identification of gaps in all sectors, particularly in infrastructure, shelter projects in camps, urban areas, and rural settings in Northeast Syria.
- Gather information on shelter and infrastructure gaps to enable the organization’s decision-making for suitable interventions.
- Well familiar with the codes and applicable regulations/norms to support in the technical designing phase using engineering software and support in preparing draft detailed Scope of Works (SoW), Bills of Quantity (BoQ), drawings, and other documents as required in line with the unit-specific requirements for shelter team to review and prepare.
- Regular monitoring of the project including reporting of deviations, discrepancies, and/or deficiencies from the approved design, scope of work and bill of quantity (including materials used), and timeline, as well as proposition of remedial measures to mitigate consequences of deviations.
- Present periodic briefings, attended by both parties, contractor and the organization Project Management Team.
- Prepare written progress reports on a weekly basis, recommendations, and proposed ways to address challenges.
- preparing a site monitoring report for the achievement milestones.
- Facilitate joint assessments, needs analysis and identification of gaps though providing gathered information.
- Collect feedback from the persons we serve on Shelter and other assistance/services provided as per adopted guidelines and SOPs.
- Conduct field visits to location of displacement and prepare situation report up on the request from the organization.
- Preparation of land surveys with all necessary surveying equipment, and necessary software:
o Total station
o Level measuring device (Nivo)
o Prisms, Tripods, etc.
o Familiar with AutoCAD Land/ Civil 3D.
Update the Master plan layout of NES camps as requested, As Built Maps/layouts.
Demarcate sites within the camps and identify the accurate coordinates for facilities as requested.
Demarcate the electrical/solar poles, facilities, and equipment for any project.
The surveyor must own his Owen survey devices (Total Station at least) that will serve the assigned described tasks.
- Preparation of land surveys using all necessary surveying equipment and software, including:
o Total station
o Level measuring device (Nivo)
o Prisms, tripods, and related accessories
o Proficiency in AutoCAD Land/Civil 3D
- Update master plan layouts of NES camps, and other locations as requested, including as-built maps/layouts.
- Demarcate sites within the camps, and other locations. Provide accurate coordinates for facilities as required.
- Demarcate electrical/solar poles, facilities, and equipment for any project.
The surveyor must possess his own surveying devices (at minimum, a Total Station) to perform the assigned tasks.
- Perform other tasks as required by the organization.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- At least, has academic background relevant with topographic land survey core of business.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum (5) years of practical experience in the field related to topographic survey, familiar with utilisation of Survey tools Total Station, Nivo, Prisms, Tripods, etc.
- Familiar with AutoCAD land, Civil 3D software.
- Good leadership, networking skills and excellent knowledge of the local area of work.
LANGUAGES:
Fluency in Arabic, and basic English language skills.

- Good computer skills, including experience with various applications, with more focus on computer skills linked to the scope of required work.
The targeted location is between Hasakah and Raqqa and Der Ezzour.
