Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the implementation of the CO’s external communications strategy in line with IOM’s strategic communications priorities and guidance, by developing key messages and advising on effective communication approaches to promote informed public understanding and support on migration-related issues.
2. Manage the COs social media channels and website and help maintain quality of content disseminated
3. Translate and/or review non-official content from English to Arabic and Arabic to English (French is plus), where required.
4. Collect and file relevant communications and visibility products, photographs and video clips systematically in the centralized server
5. Develop content including visuals and graphics, IOM Syria’s newsletters/external products, content (human interest stories, videos, web updates, social media posts) production
6. Coordinate communications-related tasks with other team members to ensure content aligns with IOM’s brand and quality standards
7. Support the planning and coordination of visibility events and media-related engagements, including scheduling interviews, drafting talking points, and supporting in the preparation of speeches and communication materials, including UN days.
8. Undertake duty travel to take photographs and video footage and gather material for multi-media content showcasing the humanitarian situation and IOM field activities
9. Support the integration of gender, diversity and inclusion considerations in all IOM external communications.
10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.



Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Information Management, or related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
• High school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience



Specific Vacancy Requirements
Experience and Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in ERP is a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated competency in content creation for social media and websites in English and Arabic (French is a plus).
• Experience in graphic design, web, social media, photography and video production.
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Demonstrated high competence as a writer and editor, and online communication and social media skills.
• Excellent multimedia skills, including in photography, videography and graphic design.
