Responsibilities
The social worker position is part of the protection sector in TdH-L.
The Social Worker operates under the direct line management of the Field Senior Project Officer and receives ongoing technical guidance and coaching from both the Field MHPSS Officer and the Field Child Protection (CP) Officer.

The Social Worker plays a key role in supporting the effective implementation of child protection and MHPSS activities, including:
•Managing and supporting Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) to ensure safe, inclusive, and structured environments for children.
•Conducting community outreach and awareness raising activities, including the supervision, and management of community volunteers.
•Co facilitating non specialised MHPSS and CP group sessions for children, caregivers, and other community members.
•Supporting data collection and field assessments, including ad hoc protection assessments and routine protection monitoring activities.
Social Workers who hold a degree and certification in psychology may also support more specialised MHPSS tasks, based on the guidance of the MHPSS Specialist (Country Office) and the Field MHPSS Officer. These responsibilities may include conducting MHPSS assessments, providing individual counselling when appropriate, and facilitating referrals to specialised services.

Across all responsibilities, the Social Worker ensures strict adherence to child protection and safeguarding principles, including the application of trauma informed care. The Social Worker is also responsible for ensuring these principles are upheld by all community volunteers involved in project activities.

Responsibilities:

Management of Child Friendly Spaces (CFS):
•Support the CP officer in the recruitment of community volunteers including initial screening and administering the tests as well as final selection of candidates.
•Based on instructions from the CP and MHPSS officers, lead on managing the community volunteers on a weekly basis including organising weekly coordination meetings, assigning tasks, coordinating outreach and awareness raising activities within the communities, coaching and mentoring of volunteers, ensuring strict adherence to child protection safeguarding principles and code-of-conduct.
•Supporting the CP officer in the identification and assessment of suitable facilities for the establishment of CFS, that adhere to child safeguarding standards. This may include visits to facilities and schools, support with the set up of the space (procurement of equipment etc).
•Proactively lead in mapping out available services in all operational locations. This may include conducting new service mapping in new areas where Tdh is implementing activities as well as ensuring service mapping is updated in ongoing locations. In consultation with the CP and MHPSS officers, closely coordinate with partner organisations other service providers to maintain a smooth/consistent exchange of information, ensure appropriate referral of cases and coordination of interventions/activities among partners.
•Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around the Child-Friendly Space.
•Identify any protection or MHPSS incidents and immediately inform Child Protection or MHPSS officer.
Non-specialised MHPSS and CP activities
•Together with the MHPSS officer, facilitate non-specialised structured group MHPSS sessions for adults and children in the CFS or through mobile approaches.
•Lead in facilitating sessions for youth clubs and community child protection committees under the technical guidance of the CP officer.
•Lead on establishing and managing community-based child protection committees (CBCPs) under the supervision of the CP officer.
•Support the committees in developing the initiatives, and leading the initiatives processes.
•Responsible for timely and accurate data entry in TdH-L databases and trackers on beneficiary figures, filing of relevant files and documents. Responsible for strict adherence to data protection standards while registering, documenting and filing documents and data related to beneficiaries.
•Lead on organising CP events in the community and facilitating unstructured recreational activities with children and youth. Ensure that all games and equipment are accounted for and stored securely at the end of the day.
•Identify the children at risk during the MHPSS and CP activities and refer the cases to the case manager for further follow up and support.

Individual MHPSS Counselling and referrals:
Upon instructions by the MHPSS specialist at the county office and the MHPSS officer, and ONLY if the social worker has a degree in psychology and is qualified in psychological counselling may be assigned to:
•Conduct individual MHPSS assessments of cases (children, youth or adults) with mild to moderate symptoms
•Develop case and treatment plans together with the client
•Either directly provide therapy sessions or support with referrals to specialised MHPSS providers as per the case plan validated by the MHPSS officer. Ensured trauma-informed approaches and survivor-centered cared in ensured throughout the process as well as confidentiality principles. Actively engage in case supervision meetings facilitated by the MHPSS officer and/or specialist.

Protection Monitoring:
•Supports in systematic data collection for protection monitoring in locations assigned by the Senior Project Officer as per the monthly plan. This includes conducting interviews with communities using standardised tools, accurately transcribing interviews in KOBO and ensuring timely submission of these interviews.
•Support with the immediate referral of cases at heightened risk that may be identified through protection monitoring activities, as per TdH-L Standard Operating Procedures. This may include informing the CP or MHPSS officer or directly referring to external providers in consultation with the CP and MHPSS officer.
•Proactively informing the Senior Project Officer of any new trends, alarming protection risks observed in the communities.


Qualifications
Training/Qualifications:
•University degree in Social Work or Psychology or related experience.
•Expertise and qualifications in child psychology is an advantage
Experience:
•0-2 years of relevant experience.
•Demonstrated experience in working with children.
•Experience in working in the humanitarian sector and/or with vulnerable groups is an advantage.
•Demonstrated experience in facilitating activities for children of different age groups: Animation, recreational activities.
•Experience in MHPSS counselling and case management is a strong advantage.
Language:
•Arabic Speaker (full professional fluency).
•Familiarity with English is an advantage.

Computer know-how
•Familiarity with the standard Microsoft package.
