Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of NRC’s area-based approach, under the management of the capacity building team, and in close coordination with the Area Manager;
- Represent NRC externally at area level, maintaining a frequent field presence, and developing relationships within a network of local stakeholders in close coordination with the Area Manager;
- Seek to identify synergies (within NRC and with other stakeholders) and opportunities for interventions, particularly in capacity building, referral to services and information provision;
- Identify participants and venues for capacity building activities, and provide information to groups and individuals, for example on access to NRC services;
- Identify and mobilize community focal points – including building their capacity and supporting development of action plans and activities – as part of NRC’s area-based approach to service delivery;
- Provide support to NRC integrated projects, to give input on beneficiary identification and activity selection criteria, notably in collaboration with Shelter and Education Units;
Produce or contribute to regular field reports to line manager and Area Manager, highlighting technical or operational successes or challenges, and adding up-to-date information to - - support area-based analysis and improved programming;
Uphold NRC practices for monitoring, evaluation, learning and compliance, carefully maintaining records and contributing to reporting.

Qualifications
- A university degree in social science or other related field
- Preferably 2 years’ experience with NGOs
- Prior experience of representing an I/NGO
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
- Proven skills and experience in report writing
- Fluency in written and spoken English, and Arabic.
- Advanced computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Available and ready to travel consistently to the field

It provides assistance to people affected by crises & i.e. refugees, internally displaced people, host communities etc. - to meet their immediate humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement and contribute to durable solutions.
NRC was established in 1946 under the name Aid to Europe, to assist refugees in Europe after World War II. After almost 70 years of interventions all over the world, today NRC is organised as an independent and private foundation that cooperates closely with the UN and other humanitarian organisations, around the world as well as in Norway. NRCs funding base is not only diverse but also flexible, counting a number of different donors including the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations. In 2014 NRC assisted more than four million displaced and conflict-affected people around the world, and raised more than USD 250 million for our humanitarian programming. Currently NRC operates in 25 countries worldwide with over 5,000 staff members, the majority of which are national employees. All NRC projects are supervised by the Head Office of the organization in Oslo while in the Middle East, NRC country offices report to a regional office based in Amman. All the programs are implemented in close coordination with governments and local authorities.
The type of activities implemented in each context varies from country to country depending on the needs on the ground and priorities laid out in strategic response plans of Governments and the UN. However NRC mainly specialises in five programme areas: Education, Shelter, WASH, Food Security as well as supporting displacement affected population to access further services. Moreover, extensive expertise has been gained by the organization over the years also on Collective Shelters Coordination and Management.
In addition, NRC provides expertise as a strategic partner to the UN as well as to national and international actors including governments and line ministries- through its stand-by rosters. Only in 2014 almost 600 humanitarian experts were deployed to 49 countries, making NRCs rosters the most used expert deployment capacity in the humanitarian world.
Finally, NRC promotes and sustains efforts at different levels to keep high the attention on the condition and situation of displaced and vulnerable people affected by ongoing crisis.
