Purpose of the position:
The Finance Officer will be a full-time employee of ZOA Syria Response. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Operations, the Finance Officer carries out a variety of accounting functions such as: Maintenance of accurate and timely accounting records for all financial transactions, filing and retrieval of accurate supporting documentation for all financial transactions, management of cash and bank payments, ensuring the security of all funds. All activities and financial transactions are carried out and recorded with integrity and in accordance with ZOA policies and procedures, any applicable donor, ZOA and government guidelines.
Main activities:
1. Responsible to maintain ledger books for office.
2. Make sure that all the records, accounts and financial transaction are booked.
3. Receives funds request from staff and review for correct approvals of expenses and completeness documentation of financial transactions in compliance with ZOA guidelines prior to data entry into the accounting system within a reasonable time.
4. Process all invoices accurately and promptly, checking for completeness and eliminating errors, and ensuring payment is made within the appropriate timescale.
5. Data entry of accounting data into the computerized accounting system.
6. Responsible for issuance of petty cash and codification of expenses, ensuring petty cash funds is always available.
7. Manages petty cash accounts, ensuring accurate records are kept, and that accounts balance, following up where discrepancies are identified.
8. Handle money exchange related transactions.
9. File all office financial documents.
10. Maintain soft copies of all office financial documents.
11. Track advances in accordance with advance policy and notify staff of outstanding advances.
12. Prepare the end of month accounts before forwarding them to ZOA HQ.
13. Serve as back-up support to the office team when requested.
14. In close coordination with logistic staff, maintains a system to monitor and forecast cash requirements to meet administrative expenditures.
15. In close coordination with logistic staff, check that all purchase authorizations and other documentation to ensure compliance with ZOA guidelines.
16. Assist with audits pulling out and refiling documents, preparing and processing various adjustments and schedules as required.
17. Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual accounting closes.
18. Keep track of vendors bills and coordinate payment to vendors.
19. Prepare and follow up on internal invoices for staff/external organizations.
20. Support in the checking the finance reports from the local partners.
21. Any other tasks requested by the Supervisor.

Knowledge Experience:
1. Bachelor degree in Business Administration, preferably in accounting.
2. Minimum working experience of 4-5 years in finance, or at least 2 years experience in a similar role.
3. Very Good spoken and written command of English.
4. Excellent spoken and written command of Arabic.
5. Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
6. Experience of working with different accounting packages.
7. Experience working with and capacity building local partners is a plus.
Skills:
1. Initiative and leadership.
2. Organised and structured.
3. Communicative, open and decisive.
4. Result-oriented in a team approach.

Regular travel to the field can be required.
