Responsibilities
1. Apply operating system installation, updates, patches, and configuration changes.
2. Implement and upgrade current/new hardware for existing and new systems.
3. Manage and administer the Storage Area Network (SANs), archiving and backup systems’ operations.
4. Implement and administer network services and clustered environments running on UNIX based systems.
5. Monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts using commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
6. Study, evaluate and approve systems proposed by third parties in aspects of operating system, backup and storage.
7. Administer and maintain user accounts and privileges across various systems depending on the business needs of each user.
8. Perform periodically hardware proactive maintenance to detect and possibly solve problems before they lead to system failures.
9. Arrange quickly repair for hardware in case of hardware failure.
10. Coordinate with Hardware and Software suppliers, UNIX systems
11. Perform periodic migrations of all systems to compensate for the growing need of business and hardware aging.
12. Analyze system failure and backup/recovery, archive operations, and insure the consistency and integrity of file systems.
13. Apply security standards and ensure it is up to date.
14. Provide 1st level support to systems’ users.
15. Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting related to perform the UNIX Administrators tasks.
16. Prepare and submit accurate reports to HOS.
17. Maintain technical documentation for all systems, operations and plans.
18. Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
19. Check Section & Individual objectives on regular basis and effectively participate in achieving them to ensure successful contribution to company's goals and corporate objectives.
20. Participate in conducting the OJT for new team members and promote a culture of knowledge transfer, cooperation and team work.
21. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Syriatel Quality Management System.

Qualifications
1. Education: Bachelor degree in Computer/ Engineering /IT.
2. Experience: 2 Years of Unix Administration Experience are required.
3. Professional Certification: Operating systems Linux/Unix Certificate is a must. Storages Management Professional Certificates / Networking Professional Certificates / ITIL is a plus
