• Attend briefing at Medair Office & Aleppo or Damascus and read all relevant documents in advance of Kick-off meeting on-site
• Attend the site every day that define by area manager/ Infrastructure Officer and that contractors are working there on Medair engineering contracts, spending sufficient time to monitor all aspects of the work . Occasionally this may include Fridays. Arrival and departure times to be recorded in the Site Record Book or on the relevant device provided by Medair and area manager/ Infrastructure Officer.
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with contractors and all other relevant local stakeholders.
• Daily tracking of work progress against project schedule
• On request, tracking of cost expenditure against budget.
• Monitor material deliveries, quality and storage provided by the contractor
• Pro-actively identify problems and identify solutions in conjunction with contractor and area manager/ Infrastructure Officer.Keep written notes in Site Record Book. The Site Engineer does not have the delegation to make changes to the overall design or specification.
• Inform area manager on the same day of any major issues or potential changes in project design and agree revisions in writing. Present any agreed revisions back to the contractor.
• Take photographs of relevant stages of construction as part of record keeping, email on request to Medair Aleppo or Damascus office.
• Visit every proposed beneficiary household to assess needs against Medair criteria and compile Medair list accordingly.
• On location liaison for required works for beneficiary selection with the municipality.
• Provide a brief written report of the procedures of engineering tests done for material and after installation
• Provide a brief written weekly progress report to the Medair Manager.
• Undertake documented inspections at agreed stages in the project completion to area manager/ Infrastructure Officer.
• Provide As-Built Records when the project works are finished

• University Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in supervision of general contracting works as a site engineer.
• Experience liaising with local contractors
• Ability to use the applications of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook …) and Engineering software.
• Excellent written and spoken Arabic, Good written and spoken English
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good team player
• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in supervision of general contracting works as a site engineer.

Successful application will lead to position in the talent pool. Applicant in the talent pool will be contacted for short term agreements based depending on required capacity for project activities.
This position is based in Aleppo with frequent field visits (subject to staff safety procedures and movement approvals)
