Responsibilities
1. Apply operating system installation, updates, patches, and configuration changes.
2. Implement and administer network services and clustered environments running on UNIX based systems.
3. Issue systems related material requests and Bill of Quantity 'BoQ' in coordination with IT Support Center Unit concerned section and participate in software inspection.
4. Study, evaluate systems proposed by providers in aspects of operating system.
5. Monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts using monitoring tools.
6. Develop and perform UNIX administration test plans.
7. Conduct scheduled UNIX/Linux system upgrades.
8. Administer and maintain system user accounts and privileges across various systems depending on the business needs of each user.
9. Ensure the consistency and integrity of file systems.
10. Apply security standards and ensure it is up to date.
11. Provide 1st level support to system users.
12. Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting related to perform UNIX Administrators tasks.
13. Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of server resources, systems and key processes.
14. Review system and application logs when needed, and verify completion of scheduled system jobs.
15. Participate in design new/existing systems topology.
16. Maintain technical documentation for all systems, operations and plans.
17. Check Section & Individual objectives on regular basis and effectively participate in achieving them to ensure successful contribution to company's goals and corporate objectives.
18. Participate in conducting the OJT for new team members and promote a culture of knowledge transfer, cooperation and teamwork.
19. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Syriatel Quality Management System.

Qualifications
1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / IT Engineering is required.
2. Experience: 2 Years of UNIX Administration experience are required.
3. Professional Certification: Operating systems professional Certificate (UNIX) is a must.
Storages Management Professional Certificates / ITIL are plus.
