Duration of Assignment: 12 months, starting Nov 1 2020
COA:
GL BU Account Fund Op. Unit Dept Project Impl. Agent Donor Activity
Background Information
Despite reduced scale of military confrontation and violence in the most densely populated regions of the country, Syrians are increasingly challenged to access basic services due to the level of infrastructure destruction left behind by the hostilities and
scarce resources, also as a result of massive internal displacement and lack of access to information. Surveys for refugees’ intentions to return has been considered the main source of information for probable movement and decision of refugees to return.
Various intention assessments and returnees’ surveys have been provided based on the collected data in refugees’ camps outside Syria.
To integrate UN agencies efforts for refugees and development domains, an innovative solution will be provided to link the Syrian IDPs with their communities of origin and convey substantive analysis and feedback about the livelihoods and service availability in their returning destinations. Based on the information management capacity and partnerships, joint efforts can produce comprehensive database linked to centers in the potential returning communities to provide unique feedback for IDPs whom are considered potential returnees on both community and household levels.
Objectives of Assignment
The project will be implemented by a team in the neighborhood of Karm el Qaterji in Aleppo, with close coordination and supervision from the Early Recovery Advisor in Damascus and the UNDP Aleppo Area Manager. The project coordinator will support the Early Recovery Unit and other actors in implementation of the project work plan by providing technical, management and coordination support to project activities. He/she will be working closely with a project team composed of enumerators and data entry operators. He/she will be required to interact with the local government, community-
based organisations and leaders, non-governmental organisations, as well as local residents and businesses, while coordinating the project.
The project coordinator will on a daily basis follow up with all key actors on implementation of the project, provide the needed support to the project team to effectively carry out the activities in the agreed work plan, and assist the project team in timeously reporting on the programmatic progress of the project.
Scope of work: Expected Results/Deliverables
Under the guidance of the Early Recovery Advisor and the UNDP Area Manager in Aleppo, the project coordinator will perform the following duties:
- Support the delivery of the project outputs through coordination of activities in the field;
