Responsibilities
Oxfam will conduct special training for the targeted farming households in Al Mayadin District to ensure that farmers, particularly those who benefited from rehabilitation of irrigation canal, utilize water and other agricultural inputs wisely, and practice environmentally sensitive. Oxfam will aim at training 960 farmer households through a series of 4 training sessions, which will be held throughout the rest of 2020 (and possibly the first two months of 2021).
Methodology and scope of work
Under the supervision of Oxfam expert(s), and in close cooperation with Oxfam team, the trainer will be entitled to do the following tasks:
• train farmers on sustainable farming
• train farmers on poultry farming
• train farmers on maintenance of irrigation facilities
• train farmers on recycling practices
• train farmers on agri-business management
The training sessions will be led by trained facilitator(s). The training materials, training aids (visuals, printed documents, PowerPoint slides …etc.) will be prepared in in advanced in coordination with Oxfam’s expert(s). Oxfam will be responsible for all logistic issues connected to the implementation of tasks.
Trainer deliverables
The following will be the expected deliverables of the trainer:
• drafting training materials for at least 2 topics of the training program (one topic is enough in case of veterinary trainer for poultry farming); the materials will be reviewed and can be modified by Oxfam’s agriculture consultant
• successful performance resulting in beneficial training
• interactive collaboration with Oxfam’s expert(s)
• building a teamwork environment with other trainers and Oxfam staff
• efficient utilization of training aids
• technical advice and support to participants during the training
• final report on implementation of tasks after finishing the training
• design pre- and post-evaluation for training
Duration and time frame
The training sessions shall be expected to be completed within 8 working days at least (the period can be extended). Each day of the training days will contain 4 training sessions (2 morning sessions and 2 afternoon sessions). The training sessions shall commence no more than 2 weeks after signing of the contract.

The final report
The deadline for sending the final report is 3 days after completion of training sessions. Approval of the final report by Oxfam expert(s)will be the basis for issuing the final payment. The final report is a 2-4 pages document and is expected to include the trainer’s notes about the training and the trainees, including their responses and suggestions, as well as the trainer’s own conclusions and recommendations.




Qualifications
• university degree in agricultural sciences (or veterinary science in case of training on poultry farming);
• extensive experience (at least 5 years) in field of agriculture
• extensive knowledge of rural society in Deir ezZor
• demonstrated high level of professionalism and ability to work constructively with colleagues in high pressure situations under tight deadlines
• good inter-personal communication skills
• ability to utilize training methods and techniques, as well as training aids
• experience in training and building capacity is a plus
