Scope/Objective
Under the overall direction of the Area Manager, and in close coordination with the Area associate,
The Technical Officer the Project Technical Officer will work in close collaboration with the Project team he is responsible to assist the project supervisor for the day-to-day management and implementation of Enhancing the Community Safety in Rural Homs Project.
He assists supporting the implementation of project’s activities in addition to monitoring and reporting on implemented initiatives insuring implementation of activities in line with UNDP rules and regulations, planned targets, budgets, and time frames, and as instructed by the Area Manager.
Project brief: This project aims to enhance the positive role that culture can play in promoting and enabling cohesion in culturally diverse societies
Functions / Key Results Expected:
- Liaise with competent national authorities and conduct field visits to assess the current situation, to explore potential and means of support to the Government/local in the area of solid waste and debris management.
- design and development of initiatives for: the recovery and development of the solid waste and debris sector; provision of immediate response to collect and remove Solid Waste and Debris from existing as well as newly accessible areas; Promote application of comprehensive solid waste and Debris management system (including its governance) by up-scaling of recycling,
crushing and reuse initiatives;
- Follow up technically with the local authorities to prepare a proper design and tender documents (technical specification relative cost).
- Follow-up for implementing the solid waste and debris projects and attending meetings on site when needed.
- Provide technical support to Project technicians and monitor their performance
- Monitor relevant initiatives according to agreed indicators; and enter progress into the IMRP System
- Provide regular reports and briefs to area and Project manager to support reporting to donors, as needed;
- Follow up and monitor the implementation of related project to ensure results delivery
- Document lessons learned and share experience with CO.

Qualifications
Recruitment Qualifications
Education: A university degree, preferably master’s degree or equivalent, in Business Administration, Public Administration, Legal Affairs, Political Science, Social Sciences or related field
Experience: 4 years of operational relevant experience, restoring the historic buildings is an asset.
Language Requirements: Excellent command of Arabic and English
