Responsibilities
Context

Organic farming was introduced agriculture policy makers in Syria before the war and was seen as an important production system for environmental sustainability;



This will be achieved through the following main elements:

- Capacity building for technicians and quality controllers through training of trainers ToT programmes about regenerative agriculture and Good Agriculture Practices GAP that help protect and improve the environment for farming products, securing needed inputs at less costs, and producing high-quality products free from chemicals and harmful elements.

- Establishing cooperatives /farmer groups and developing bylaws /mechanisms for provision of technical support, follow up and inspection through all stages of productions

- Creating marketing channels for the quality products either through direct selling points or through producer- to-customer distribution schemes.



Objectives of the Assignment

The project objectives is to support livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Syria, especially Female headed households though improving quality of agriculture products, which increases income through reduced production cost, establishing marketing channels, premium and fair prices for quality products.

the Project Admin / Finance assistant will be responsible about administration and finance issues in coordination with rural  development technical officer to ensure the successful achievement of all project activities



Scope of work (Indicate if this is Time-Based Contract or Output Based)

Rural Aleppo -Time-Based Contract



Final product/Deliverables (For Output Based Contracts, clearly indicate milestones and percentage of total lump sum that will be paid for completion of each milestone) Project Admin/Finance is responsible for the general administration and accounting function including preparing the periodical entries, maintaining the balance sheet dates, accounts and adjustments, monthly closing and account analysis.

He will be responsible about:

- Review work plan, developed by project team, of all activities and develop a comprehensive and detailed list of tasks with clear timeframe.

- Assist in all procurement process related to project’s activities

- Ensure logistical arrangement readiness for all training events including seating, training materials, list of attendees, visibility and clear training agenda.

- Coordinate between project team to handle emerging issues during training and come out with alternative suggestions for solution, while reporting to UNDP Aleppo office about major issues.

- Provide feedback to the UNDP Aleppo office on project activities.

- Assist in the implementation of ongoing project with the facilitator and Aleppo EDL portfolio /UNDP.

- Attend the online technical trainings to ensure knowledge of new technologies is obtained.

- Conducting field visits to the site of activities implementing and ensure that the information is well conveyed to farmers

- Assists in preparation of meeting minutes, reports, training, and other required project documentation.

- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.

- Monthly closure and preparation of monthly financial statements.

- Reconciliation and maintenance of balance sheet accounts.

- Assist in managing salaries.

- Prepare monthly financial reports.

- Assist in closing accounts by the end of the project.

- Review expenditure reports.

- Maintain excellent relationship with all stakeholders

- Perform other duties as required


Qualifications
Recruitment Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in economics, Administration or Business-related fields.



Experience:

3 Years Preferable who has previous experience with UNDP Proficiency in Arabic, working knowledge of English

Salary and Benefits
- This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Regreen Syria - Regenerative Organic Agriculture.

- Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position

- Duration and Type of Assignment: 5 months
