Responsibilities
Context

The crisis in Syria has entered its tenth year with little prospects for imminent end to violence that is faced on daily

basis and impact the lives and exacerbate the vulnerability of children, women, the elderly, and the disabled.

In addition, the widespread displacement and deterioration of life conditions have negatively influenced the social and

economic fabric of Syria.

The Project Supervisor will be recruited, through a third-party contract, to support the implementation of UNDP activities on Social Cohesion and Local Development in the field. The Supervisor be directly involved in the initiation, management and evaluation of different field activities.



Objectives of the Assignment

1- Support formulation of the Social Cohesion programme strategies and implementation of projects focusing on achievement of the following results:

- Collection, analysis and presentation of background information for preparation of Project Documents, strategies and other programme related documents

- Presentation of background information for the formulation of work plans, budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements.

- Researches and designs project ideas and implementation strategies for expansion of project portfolio; identification of stakeholders and negotiation of project strategies

2- Provides effective support to the management of the Social Cohesion programme:

- Ensure proper follow up on assigned Social Cohesion projects and pipeline projects

- Drafting correspondence relating to programme; responding to requests for information; researching background material for use in discussions and briefing sessions

- Support the Social Cohesion Area Associate in drafting project documents and ensure planning of annual work plans and budgets.

- Prepare background papers and thorough analysis and research on political, social and economic issues related to Social Cohesion in the governorate.

- Draft TORs for the new projects positions.

- Collaborate with the Field Operations Team, Field management Team and Field teams for the implementation of the Social Cohesion field projects

- Draft success stories for the Social Cohesion activities in the country

- Support the monitoring of the programme delivery and follows up with the partners on the implementation of relevant activities

3- Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing focusing on achievement of the following results:

- Organization of training for the operations/ projects staff on the team programme

- Synthesis of lessons learned and best practices in social cohesion.

- Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Recruitment Qualifications

Education:

- Master degree in Social sciences or MBA is preferable.

- Bachelor Degree in Sociology, Business, Social Sciences or other related fields.



Experience:

- 5 years of progressively responsible administrative or programme experience is required at the national or international level in addition to previous experience in project supervision and management in developing or non-developing sectors.

- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.

- Excellent networking and coordination skills.



Language Requirements:

- Professional level in both Arabic and English language skills.

- Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.


Salary and Benefits
- This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Social Cohesion Project.

- Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position

- Duration and Type of Assignment: 10 months
