Responsibilities
Context
Fruit trees are one of the important components of the agriculture production in Syria. Products of the fruit tree form an important input for food processing industries, export, and food consumption. This sector received sharp hit during the war years, which threatens to deprive thousands for farmers of their main source of income and affect economic activities that depended on their production.
This project comes in response to the damage done to the fruit tree sector because of the extensive destruction of orchards where the provision of seedlings is a key element for medium-term restoration (over 2-3 year).
The rehabilitation of these nurseries will provide farmers with a reliable source of seedlings as well as natural fertilizer and thus helps them to restore their agricultural activities. the plant nursery in Tal Ajjar will be restored through replacement of damaged green houses and rehabilitation of water well, providing irrigation network, in addition to establishment of a composting unit.
Objectives of the Assignment
The specific objectives of the civil construction supervisor assignment are to monitor ongoing rehabilitation activities to ensure that work is properly executed within deadlines by planning and organizing tasks while managing a contractor.
- Carry out the supervision of the civil and construction works of green houses and well rehabilitation in full compliance with the relevant Technical Reference Document.
- Daily Follow-up the implementation of civil works and compliance with the relevant agreement with contractor.
- Monitor the implementation of the contractor for the civil and construction works.
- Coordinate with project manager to ensure that the provided materials and machines meets the required technical specifications.
- Provide feedback to UNDP Aleppo office on the reality of contractor implementation.
- Reporting to UNDP Aleppo office about major issues.
- Develop monitoring and impact indicator for the contractor implementation.
- Coordinate with DoA of Aleppo and the contractor to receipt the finished activities.
- Perform other duties as required.

- BA in in Civil engineering.
- Minimum of 2-3 years practical engineering experience in similar work (greenhouse construction well rehabilitation) and in civil work.
- The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary
- Experience in supervising construction projects with contractors.
Functional Competencies
- Supervision skills
- Experience working with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Arabic and working knowledge of English is an asset.
- computer background in MS office

Salary and Benefits
- This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP supporting Value Chain For Fruit Trees Through Revival Of MOA Nurseriest.
- Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position
