Responsibilities
II. Context
The crisis in Syria has entered its tenth year with little prospects for imminent end to violence that is faced on daily basis and impact the lives and exacerbate the vulnerability of children, women, the elderly, and the disabled. In addition, the widespread displacement and deterioration of life conditions have negatively influenced the social and economic fabric of Syria.
As a response to the emerging needs of the Syrian population, and in line with the overall framework of the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan, Strategic Framework for Syria and UNDP Country Programme Document, UNDP Syria is working on enabling Local economic recovery and livelihoods for vulnerable populations through inclusive private sector recovery and development, human capital development and pro-poor market interventions; enabling Local-level support for social protection/cohesion, gender equity and sustaining peace enabled; and developing Responsive, accountable and transparent local governance systems.
Given the current situation that Syrians are facing with challenges on the economic, social, health and emotional level, with increased cases of different types of violence especially during a time where social distancing is required coupled with former stigma, discrimination, and distress, there is an imminent need to provide specialized psychosocial support and selfcare programmes. The gender & GBV mobile team project in Raqqa comes as results of emerging needs and builds its intervention based on local needs to support vulnerable people especially women, young girls and survivals. The project activities through the fixed center as well as out-reach mobile teams shall reach out to most vulnerable especially women and young girls’ survivals, caregivers, and other vulnerable groups to prevent the increase of violence against them and to respond to cases as needed. It measures in response to the CEDAW (The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women) Committee recommendations as well as MHPSS guidelines as needed.
III. Objectives of the Assignment
The Gender & GBV Project Technician (Field Mental Health Psychosocial Support) will be recruited, through a third-party contract, to support the implementation of UNDP activities on Social Cohesion and Local Development / Gender in the field (outreach mobile team). The MHPSS project Technician will be directly involved with beneficiaries to support their mental health wellbeing, offer practical support especially to people experiencing stress and help in specific solutions of project received cases on-line. The technician shall coordinate the implementation plan with The Gender & GBV Project Technician (Gender team leader - Technician).
IV. Scope of work (Indicate if this is Time-Based Contract or Output Based)
The Gender & GBV Project Technician (MHPSS Technician) will be directly supervised operationally by Raqqa Area Manager & Technically by Gender team leader Technician Gender analyst. The MHPSS Technician is expected to receive regular guidance from the gender analyst, area manager, gender field team leader and MHPSS supervisor to fulfil the following specific objectives and tasks:
-Receive cases designated by mobile team members and other active partners and provide required support to cases in a timely manner and hold high quality.
-Apply psychosocial support educational and evidence-based modality with handled cases.
-Handel emergency and urgent received case (suicidal and sever violence cases).
-Helping people to help themselves so they can regain control of the situation, access practical support and manage their problems better.
-Close follow up and monitoring for received cases.
-Maintain regular / daily update for case files and reports.
-Ensure cases that received required services are closed in coordination with gender team leader and supervisor.
-Maintain confidentiality and follow MHGAP procedures and GBV procedures for breaking confidentiality (when needed only).
-Conduct periodic assessments with women and girls to continuously understand and tailor activities that are relevant to targeted groups.
-Plan and organize daily and weekly plans for PSS and recreational activities for women.
-Maintain record confidentially for beneficiaries through on-line System and ensure that the data collected is accurate.
-Do required referrals to other services using Protection and UNDP map of services.
-Ensure that scheduled weekly activities are responsive to immediate needs and requests of targeted beneficiaries especially women and girls.
V. Final product/Deliverables (For Output Based Contracts, clearly indicate milestones and percentage of total lump sum that will be paid for completion of each milestone)
-Only Relevant Bachelor’s degree (Psychology, Sociology, psychological counseling etc.),
-4 years of experience in Psychology and Sociology and family councilors - preferably with experience in working with NGOs / UN
-Willing to be supervised.
-Willing to provide at least 35 hours a week.
-*Preferably trained on MHGAP, Psychological first aid.
-Advocate for gender equity and equality and GBV prevention.
-Professional level in Arabic language skills.
-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in Arabic.
-Excellent in using computer and internet.
-Ability to start working immediately.

Salary and Benefits
-This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Joint Response to water crises – Raqqa
-Expected Places of Travel:Raqqa (Maadan, Sabka, & Mansura)
-Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position

-Duration and Type of Assignment: 5 months
