Responsibilities
The MEAL Assistant will be a part of the MEAL team under Program Quality, and will be a full-time employee of ZOA Syria. Under the direct supervision of the MEAL Officer, the MEAL Assistant will; support project monitoring and evaluation; conduct regular field visits; support the development and implementation of MEAL plans; ensure a high level of accountability; facilitate organizational learning; and support reporting and data management.
Main responsibilities
1.Conduct/support regular needs assessments (KIIs, FGDs, baselines & endline, Outcome Harvesting), monitoring (DDM, PDM), evaluation surveys, and context analysis as per project requirements and documenting results/findings.
2.Conduct/support the collection, cleaning, maintenance and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative project data.
3.Design/Support in designing the tools in KOBO format.
4.Participate/ assist in the progress/final reports for the projects.
5.Providing and facilitating capacity-building training for volunteers.
6.Leading the MEAL volunteers for any field missions as per projects requirements.
7.Provide inputs and support to the MEAL team in developing their accountability and feedback systems, such as the hotline and feedback boxes, and ensuring adequate and timely follow up to any inquiries, complaints or feedback raised.
8.Facilitate information sharing and participation of affected populations and communities;
9.Coordinate with the MEAL team and project staff to establish, document and follow up lessons learnt and findings.
10.Develop and maintain project monitoring tools, databases and project reporting data.
11.Conduct regular field visits for MEAL activities, e.g. collecting life stories Facebook posts for the ongoing projects.
12.Conduct/support the assessment/ registration phase for the distribution projects.
13.Other duties as required in line with skills, experience and role.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience:
•Bachelor in social sciences, project management or related fields
•One year experience in MEAL preferably in a similar working environment
•Relevant training in M&E is preferrable
•Data collection, data cleaning and analysis, and project reporting;
•Good spoken and written command of English;
•Excellent spoken and written command of Arabic;
•Understanding of and commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and other relevant international humanitarian guidelines and principles;
•Computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel PowerPoint;
•Experience with digital data collection tools (such as KOBO) and/or Data Analysis software (such as Excel & SPSS) is big plus.

• Taking initiative and being able to work independently as well as in a team;
•Being organized and structured;
•Communicative, open and honest;
•Analytical and report-writing skills;
Attitude:
•Flexibility and adaptability;
•Accountable and a high level of integrity;

•Able to work in a sometimes fluid and insecure environment.
