Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership and Gender Mainstreaming
• Lead the operationalization of FCA Syria’s Gender Equality Strategy and ensure integration across all programs (education, livelihoods, peacebuilding, and protection).
• Provide expert guidance to mainstream gender throughout the project cycle: assessment, design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Support the development of inclusive and gender-sensitive approaches that respond to the needs of women, girls, and marginalized groups.
2. Programme Design and Implementation
• Support the design of new project proposals and Programes by ensuring comprehensive gender analysis, gender-responsive outcomes, and integration of sex-, age-, and disability-disaggregated data.
• Provide technical input into the design and roll-out of targeted women’s empowerment interventions in areas such as economic inclusion, political participation, and protection.
• Contribute to the development of monitoring indicators that track gender equality outcomes and social norm changes.
3. Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening
• Conduct training and mentoring for FCA staff, partners, and stakeholders on gender equality, gender mainstreaming, GBV prevention, and women’s rights.
• Develop and adapt gender tools, guidance notes, and checklists to fit the Syrian context.
• Support internal systems to ensure that FCA Syria meets global standards in gender equality, safeguarding, and protection.
4. Coordination, Partnerships, and Advocacy
• Represent FCA in inter-agency coordination forums related to gender, GBV, and women’s empowerment, including the Protection Cluster, GBV Sub-Sector, and the Gender Working Group.
• Strengthen partnerships with national women’s rights organizations, civil society actors, UN agencies (e.g. UN Women, UNFPA), and government stakeholders.
• Contribute to advocacy initiatives that promote women’s participation, rights, and access to services.
5. Research, Monitoring, and Reporting
• Conduct or support gender assessments, participatory research, and GBV risk analyses.
• Ensure robust gender-sensitive monitoring, documentation of lessons learned, and dissemination of best practices.
• Contribute to donor reports and internal learning processes on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, or gender-based violence prevention and response.
• Proven experience in mainstreaming gender into humanitarian or development programmes.
• Experience in capacity building, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination in Syria or similar contexts.
Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of gender frameworks, including CEDAW, SDG 5, UNSCR 1325, and intersectionality.
• Knowledge of protection principles, GBV guidelines, and accountability to affected populations (AAP).
• Familiarity with donor requirements and gender-sensitive proposal writing is an asset.
Language:
• Fluency in Arabic (required)
• Good command of English (oral and written) is required for reporting and communication with regional/global teams.

Salary and Benefits
As per FCA Salary scale
Contract will be Service contract for 3 months renewable according to the budget availability and performance .
