Responsibilities
The volunteers service is to document humanitarian crises and relief efforts through powerful visual storytelling to raise awareness, foster empathy, inspire action, and secure support for affected communities. Capture the human stories of challenges, resilience, and hope, creating compelling imagery for fundraising campaigns, advocacy, donor engagement, and media dissemination

•Document Activities: Take photos/short videos of beneficiaries, volunteers, and staff working on projects, events, and community activities.
•Show Impact: Capture "before and after" shots of sites or situations to visually demonstrate the positive changes achieved through the organization's work.
•Tell Stories: Take photos that tell the story of the organization and its beneficiaries, inspiring others to get involved.
•Organize Content: File, name, and organize photos/short videos, and potentially archive them, making them accessible for future use.
•Manage Media: Edit photos/short videos and potentially make them ready to share on social media platforms, including crafting captions and using relevant hashtags to increase visibility.
•Capture Authenticity: Focus on authentic moments and genuine smiles to create engaging content.
•Focus on Storytelling: Frame photos/short videos to tell a story, showing the process and results of the volunteer work and staff.
•Vary Shots: Include a mix of candid shots of volunteers and staff, as well as more posed, "quasi-candid" photos where people look up and smile.
•Technical Skills: Pay attention to angles, perspective, and sun exposure to create high-quality images and videos.
•Respect Privacy: Be sure to get permission before taking photos or shooting videos, and offer instructions for those who do not wish to be photographed or captured in a video.
•Any other tasks as required.


Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience:
•High school diploma
•Professional photography skills and experience for at least 3 years, often with a portfolio showcasing work in similar contexts,
•Technical proficiency in cameras and editing software like Photoshop and video editing.
•Experience in challenging field conditions and cultural sensitivity are also crucial.
•Good spoken and written command of the English language
•Excellent spoken and written command of the Arabic language
•Familiarity with humanitarian principles, such as humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence,
Skills:
•Strong storytelling ability, a passion for social issues, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of ethical practices when photographing vulnerable populations, including informed consent and confidentiality.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills;
•Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
•Strong interpersonal skills to connect with people from different backgrounds;
•Being aware of cultural norms, values, and sensitivities
•Being open to feedback, learning from experiences, and embracing new ideas or perspectives.

Availability to provide volunteer services in Damascus, Quneitra, Rural Damascus, As Sweida, and Dar’a

ZOA seeks to reach the most vulnerable groups- women, children, elderly, female headed households, persons with disablities and internally displaced persons.
