Responsibilities
Main goals:
The Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive com-munications plan for Tdh in Syria. This includes establishing and managing social media channels, pro-ducing creative human-interest stories, and generating high-quality visual and written content that en-hance the visibility and impact of Tdh’s work.

The role aims to strengthen the country office’s public engagement and external visibility, with the ul-timate goal of supporting Tdh’s mission to improve the lives of vulnerable children in Syria. The Com-munications Officer will work closely with the country office in Syria, the MENA regional office, and headquarters in Switzerland, ensuring that communications are strategic, consistent, and aligned with global priorities.

In this role, the Officer will act as a key focal point for internal and external communication, contrib-uting expertise, creativity, and leadership to position Tdh as a trusted and impactful humanitarian ac-tor in Syria.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the production of high-quality human-interest stories and case studies for internal and external communication, in collaboration with the program team.
- Oversee the proofreading, editing, and translation of key documents (Arabic–English), ensuring consistency with organizational standards.
- Manage the design, production, and dissemination of visibility and communication materials (posters, banners, publications, reports, etc.) in line with Tdh and donor guidelines.
- Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies, ensuring alignment with Tdh global communication standards and donor requirements.
- Produce engaging visual and written content for Tdh Syria, Tdh global platforms, and donor publications.
- In close coordination with the Country Director, lead the implementation of the global communication strategy and develop a country-specific communication plan for Syria.
- Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and partners to ensure communication planning and visibility requirements are integrated into program activities.
- Ensure the design of external-facing documents and reports is impactful, professional, and consistent with organizational branding.
- Conduct field visits to collect communications content (stories, photos, videos) that enhance internal communication and organizational visibility.
- Build and manage Tdh Syria’s social media presence by developing tailored content, maintaining regular posting schedules, and ensuring alignment with Tdh global guidelines.
- Draft and disseminate monthly newsletters for internal communication within Tdh Syria and HQ.
- Provide strategic communication advice and support to program teams and management as needed.


Qualifications
Training/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Multimedia, or a related field.
- Experience in social media and web content management (including working with content management systems).
- Experience in writing and editing communication products for different audiences; knowledge of graphic design (Canva or Adobe preferred).
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft 365 applications; basic skills in photo and video editing software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with fluent English required.
- Photography and videography skills are considered a strong asset.
- Ability to work well with diverse teams including partners and global staff.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project locations in the region.

Experience:
- Previous experience in communications or PR / two years expe-rience in an INGO / experience in an L-NGO will be an ad-vantage.

Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English.

IT know-how:
Experience in using such computer software as Microsoft Office, knowledge of database package MS Excel.
