Responsibilities
- Assesses, identifies, and prioritizes the health needs of a given population, considering vulnerable groups and communities.
- Ensures safe access to and continuum of care for targeted populations. Maps and links ICRC's resources with existing, functioning local systems and mechanisms.
- Maintains networks with local key stakeholders to ensure the efficient implementation of health programmes.
- Develops and promotes Health Care in Danger-related initiatives.
- Communicates and reports both internally and externally on the health context, population needs, and relevant local security matters.
- Responsible for the regular monitoring of the ICRC-supported Health structures in the assigned area of responsibility (AoR).
- Acts as the health focal person in the sub-site for general health operations, including response to emergencies.
- Interacts, networks and communicates with health actors in the AoR, collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the health environment context, humanitarian trends, and responses in the AoR.
- Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings with external interlocutors.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine, or nursing.
- Postgraduate master’s degree/diploma in public health or health management is a strong asset.
- Valid licence to practice medicine.
- Minimum 7 years of total work experience (including 2 years of clinical experience).
- 5 years of humanitarian experience.
- Fluent English with fluent local working language.
- Excellent connections with local health authorities and/or groups of interest for ICRC.
- Excellent knowledge of the assigned geographic area.
- Postgraduate master’s degree/diploma in public health or health management is a strong asset.
- Valid licence to practice medicine.
