Responsibilities
The Project Technical Officer will provide support to UNDP projects and activities in Deir ez-Zor, while ensuring that all
actions are aligned with UNDP rules, regulations, and guidance. The role will focus on operational and technical followup,
with an emphasis on supporting UNDP staff rather than representing UNDP externally.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Project follow-up and monitoring:
o Daily Follow-up on the income-generating activities (IGA) such Businesses, Entrepreneurships and
MSMEs support, and Job Creation Activities, Such Vocational Training, On-Job-Training, internship in
accordance with UNDP rules, project documents, and workplans. Share information on progress,
challenges, and lessons learned, and propose potential amendments in consultation with stakeholders.
o Support the team in coordinating with implementing partners (LVGs and RPAs).
o Conduct regular field visits, when required, to monitor progress according to the business profile identify
bottlenecks and risks, and report findings to the supervisor and relevant Technical Officers.
o Conduct post-completion visits to beneficiaries to assess project impact and sustainability.
o Document lessons learned and good practices and share them with UNDP staff.

• Coordination and liaison support:
o Support UNDP staff in liaising with local authorities for required approvals and administrative follow-up.
o Support mapping of stakeholders and building partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, private sector,
community actors, and other local partners in line with UNDP’s strategies and local priorities.
o Support UNDP staff to facilitate consultations with target communities on planned activities and
propose adjustments.
o Provide logistical support for workshops, training sessions, and coordination meetings.
• Data collection and analysis:
o Collect required data and information, as requested by supervisor in Deir ez-Zor, ensuring it is organized
systematically to support evidence-based decision-making.
o Conduct Key informant interviews (KIIs), surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), Feasibility Assessment
as per plans with a focus on market analysis, business support, and job creation needs.
o Gather data and conduct basic research to analyze the political, social, and economic situation in Deir
ez-Zor, providing inputs to strategies, planning processes, reports, and related documentation.
• Reporting and documentation:
o Support Technical Officers in preparing monthly progress updates and final reports, capturing progress
against workplans, achievements, challenges, risks, and corrective actions.
o Contribute to regular monitoring reports, expenditure tracking, and updating financial records, under
the guidance of Technical Officers.
o Support the documentation of project activities, including coordination with the media team for photos
and videos, in line with UNDP communication protocols.

o Assist Technical Officers in preparing LVG and procurement documents (TORs, RFQs, RFPs) in accordance
with UNDP rules and regulations.
o Support the monitoring of project budgets, financial documents, and inventory records in close
coordination with the Area Office.

o Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, in line with project requirements and
