AKDN agencies conduct their programmes without regard to faith, origin, or gender.

The Aga Khan Foundation in Syria seeks to employ a full-time Safeguarding Assistant for its office in Salamieh, Damascus, Tartous or Aleppo. The base station (location) is subject to negotiations.

JOB NUMBER: SG/ 01

JOB SUMMARY:

The Safeguarding Assistant is responsible for providing support in implementing and following up on the SG activities across projects and departments. He/ she shall assist with awareness sessions, capacity building sessions, documentation, and reporting under the direct supervision of the Safeguarding Coordinator. The SG Assistant shall work in close coordination with SG focal points and provide the required support. The incumbent will report directly to the Safeguarding Coordinator.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in implementing the capacity building plan for AKF staff, volunteers, service providers and stakeholders.
- Assist in delivering community awareness sessions using different communication materials, considering the context, target group, gender, and ages.
- Under the close supervision of the SG Coordinator, provide support to and coordinate with project and department teams regarding SG donors’ requirements.
- Assist in collecting information to assess and evaluate the existing safeguarding measures across different projects and departments
- Assist in documenting and referring SG concerns raised by the community-based reporting mechanism (CBRM), SG focal points, staff, or other stakeholders in line with the related procedures.
- Contribute to preparing SG reports as required.
- Provide SG team and Project Managers with SG reports on implementing the PSEA/SG activities.
- Participate in meetings and SG events as required and needed.
- Receive cash from the finance department.
- Prepare the financial statements of the project-related workshop, meetings, and trainings, and reconcile them
- Pay fees for the project's stakeholders, volunteers, alternative office keepers, and service providers.
- Audit, organize, and archive the bills.
- Follow up on the contracts of trainers, trainees, facilitators, and service providers for the project.
- Archiving system for the project-related documents.



Qualifications
- The applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Social Science, or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience working with NGOs. Experience in PSEA, Protection, child protection, or child protection is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of Safeguarding, PSEA, grievance system, and cross-cutting protection principles.
- Awareness and sensitivity to cultural contexts and practices.
- Confidentiality, integrity, neutrality, impartiality, and accountability.
- Ability to respond to urgent cases, adhering to the survivor-focused approach, maintaining a stable and neutral attitude.
- Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Very good command of computer and English skills (written and spoken).
