Responsibilities
Aim of the position:
To contrabute to the accounting intergrity an transperancy by applying strong accountaing skills and adhernace to donore regualtion


Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Ensure that all accounting and financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
• Verify that all financial documents are properly supported, approved, coded, and filed, including maintaining accurate checklists, petty cash records, and posted invoices.
• Execute monthly closure of accounting transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjusting entries.
• Maintain an organized and compliant filing system for all financial documents, both in soft and hard copies, according to internal archiving standards.
• Ensure complete preparation of all documents required for reporting, including stamping, translation, and proper filing.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of governmental dues and tax obligations, including contract registration, salary taxes, and Social Security contributions.
• Participate in annual audits as well as project specific audits, providing required documentation and ensuring proper financial closure.
• Remain up to date with relevant regulations, donor guidelines, and best practices by participating in trainings and reviewing professional publications.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of professional competence.
• Uphold the confidentiality and integrity of financial and organizational information.
• Conduct weekly cash reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare accurate and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
• Participate in periodic cash counts with relevant team members.
• Prepare and update loan files, ensuring completeness and accuracy of supporting records.
• Prepare the Fixed and Intangible Assets schedule twice per year, conduct reconciliations, and ensure all necessary adjustments are booked in the system.
• Create and maintain a unified general ledger account for tracking assets purchased under ongoing projects to streamline reconciliation with existing inventory.
• Prepare timely and compliant payments to suppliers and beneficiaries.
• Reconcile insurance balances and ensure proper processing of employee joiners and leavers in accordance with their employment and termination dates.
• Ensure that all employment and termination related documents are correctly stamped by NSSF.
• Update the exchange rate in the financial system on a daily basis.
• Support contribution closure processes for local projects by ensuring accurate alignment between contributions and expenditures.


Qualifications
Essential requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a specialization in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in INGO sector.
• Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Excel.
• English

• Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of financial and tax regulations in Syria.
