Responsibilities
Prepare all medical equipment for daily operational activities in accordance with the Team leader's briefing.
•Responsible for the correct and timely diagnosis, treatment, and advice on all medical conditions of team members. Any medical issues encountered that fall outside the medic's capacity are to be referred to suitably qualified medical personnel.
•The Medic is to be positioned at an appropriate location during the EOD task in line with NPA SOP.
•Ensure that all medical equipment is clean and serviceable – this includes the safety vehicle.
•Ensure that all medical equipment is packed in a uniform and organized manner to ensure easy access and quick removal when required in emergencies.
•Ensure that he/she is in communication with the Team Leader at all times during working activities.
•Select an appropriate area as a medical point during operations.
•Know exactly where team members are working.
•Ensure that the safety vehicle is fitted with a stretcher and is available during emergencies.
•Ensure that the safety vehicle fuel tank has sufficient fuel to reach the nearest medical facility.
•Ensure that all medical equipment is placed in a secure location at the end of the working day. Controlled drugs are to be secured and documented.
•Ensure that all medical kits contain a list of their contents showing expiry dates and that the lists are updated as required.
•Where medical supplies are close to their expiry date, the Medical Coordinator is to be informed.
•Ensure that all medical equipment that has been used is replaced within 24 hours. If the Medic is unable to replace items used during this period, the Team Leader and Medical Coordinator should be informed.
•Any damage or deficiencies in medical stores and equipment are to be reported to the Team Leader at the earliest opportunity.
•Carry out medical training to other NPA staff when required.
•Carry out any other tasks as requested by your immediate supervisor / Operations Manager.


Qualifications
Must have:
•Nursing degree
•Qualified to administer IV fluids and drugs. Desirable
Prior experience in working with trauma-based medical emergencies.
Desired:
▪A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
