Responsibilities
• Technical Planning & Assessments
o Lead and/or support technical needs assessments, soil analysis reviews, and validation of priority agricultural plots.
o Coordinate with the Directorate of Agriculture (DoA), Agricultural Research Centres, and Water Boards for technical alignment.
o Contribute to the development of BoQs, technical specifications, and implementation sequencing for land rehabilitation and soil improvement activities.
• Implementation Oversight
o Supervise and monitor field activities including:
o Drainage canal rehabilitation and soil washing.
o Laser land levelling works (contractor oversight).
o Soil fertility improvement and fertilizer/conditioner application.
o Distribution and appropriate use of agricultural inputs and equipment.
o Provide on-site technical guidance to field teams, contractors, and community groups.
o Ensure environmental sustainability and safe agricultural practices.
• Farmer Capacity Building
o Design and deliver training modules and field demonstrations on:
o Climate-smart agriculture and salinity management.
o Efficient irrigation and drainage practices.
o Crop rotation, pest management, and soil fertility.
o Post-harvest handling and basic value addition.
o Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in training and field activities.
• Coordination & Partnerships
o Maintain regular coordination with local authorities, farmer associations, community leaders, and WFP focal points.
o Support establishment and technical mentoring of Community Operation & Maintenance (O&M) groups.
o Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
o Support MEAL teams in defining agricultural indicators, baseline values, and data collection tools.
o Conduct periodic field monitoring visits and provide technical inputs for progress reports.
o Document lessons learned, success stories, and technical recommendations for future programming.

Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in agriculture, livelihoods, or rural development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in soil management, irrigation/drainage systems, crop production, and farmer training.
• Prior experience with INGOs, UN-funded projects, or donor-compliance environments is highly desirable.
• Experience working in Northeast Syria or similar fragile contexts is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong technical knowledge of salinity management and climate-resilient agriculture.
• Ability to work with contractors and interpret technical drawings/BoQs.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Proficiency in English is an asset.
• Computer literacy (MS Office, data collection tools).
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding standards.
