• Contribute, in consultation with the team leader, to the final design/contextualization of the non-formal children education programme aimed at creating welcoming environments in schools, in line with NRC's strategy and quality standards. May take the lead and ensure coordination with the other officers, as per Line Manager's request, for the development/contextualization of key components of the programme. May be, upon request, the General Education Team Focal Point for the Children Education Programme in schools that involves overall coordination with all NRC departments for the implementation of the programme and external relevant parties.
• Is responsible for ensuring, together with the team coordinated, the timely planning, preparation and a high quality implementation of the education activities in the assigned schools, as per NRC education strategy and standards, that are aimed at:
a) Creating a more welcoming environment for students:
*teacher training and coaching,
*activities with parents,
*activities with children, based on suitable selection and representation mechanisms;
b) Supporting the return to learning and identification of most suitable pathways for out of schoolchildren and youth, through educational support, recreational and PPS activities, in collaboration with the Children & Youth Non-Formal Education Teams.
• Manage the assigned assistants in the implementation of the education programme in the assigned schools and supports them to further build their capacity and expertise.
• Is responsible for developing and/or revising materials, tools, and activities in English and Arabic for the education programme implemented by NRC in schools (such as, but not limited to: training need assessments, design of training curricula and follow up/evaluation tools; materials for awareness sessions and activities with parents and children.), and organizing and facilitating trainings/trainings of trainers/ workshops.
• Contribute to the assessment and selection of schools for the participation in the programme.
• Contribute to the development of the outreach strategy, and is responsible for the identification of key resources for the implementation/facilitation of the children education programme in schools the supported communities (e.g. community mobilizers, community focal points.). Establishes and maintains effective collaborative relationships with the school representatives and local communities.
• Assesse and decides, in consultation with the Team Leader and schools representatives, the beneficiary identification and selection methods for the activities conducted under the NRC education programme in schools. Together with the Education Assistants coordinated, ensures that a fair process is conducted.
• Contribute to need assessments, area profiling, and initial assessments in current or new operation areas (including the design of assessment tools, data collection, analysis and report writing, as per need) and informs decisions on area/community selection, programme response and approach, based on own capacity and knowledge..
• Ensure the monitoring, quality check, and evaluation of all non-formal education activities for children in the schools under her/his supervision - including the design of monitoring and evaluation methodology and tools, data collection, spot visits, data analysis, and writing of regular activity implementation/monitoring/evaluation reports.
• Contribute to identifying and/or strengthening collaboration and dialogue between NRC and relevant stakeholders (schools, other (I) NGOs, private sector organizations, community member representatives, etc., school principals), depending on the programme objectives, needs and context.
• Contribute to building synergies with other components of the education programme (transitional education programmes) and other core competencies - in particular with the ICLA (for awareness sessions and counseling) and Shelter (for temporary learning spaces and other types of support) teams. Constantly liaises with relevant departments, as per need.
• Set minimum requirements and contributes to the recruitment of external consultants /mobile resources needed to support the implementation of the education programme in schools. Ensures that their work assignments are properly managed and documents. Liaises closely with the Programme Support Assistant.
• Is responsible for confirming suitable safety conditions with the relevant NRC departments and colleagues prior to any activity conducted by the managed team in the field.
• Is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the coordinated team prepares all administrative, logistical, and financial arrangements and documentation regarding the children education programmes in the schools assigned as per NRC standards.
• Participate in the development of communication tools (ex.: newsletters / Success Stories/ Briefing Notes)
• Can be deployed temporarily to other field locations for initial assessments, the delivery of education assistance in emergency, initiation/ planning/ coordination/ implementation/ monitoring/ evaluation of non-formal children/youth education activities, recruitment of education staff (permanent and/or mobile) and/or capacity building. Can be re-allocated temporarily to other positions or requested to support other education activities that require a similar expertise, as per the education programme priorities.

• Minimum Bachelor Degree.
• Previous experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context, preferably as a project officer.
• Previous experience from working in a complex and volatile context
• Previous relevant experience of minimum 3 years from working in education for children and/or youth (planning, implementing/overseeing the implementation and reporting education activities/projects)
• Experience in coordinating teams.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.

Specific Vacancy Requirements
• Minimum Bachelor Degree, preferably in education, social work, or any related field
• Experience in designing/adapting learning/recreational/PSS materials/programmes for activities with children and youth.
• Teaching experience in schools or in delivering trainings and/or mentoring/ coaching teachers (minimum 3 years)
• Knowledge in pedagogy, didactic, child development and evaluation of learning
• Experience in dealing with public stakeholders within the Edu system (e.g. school principals, MoE/DoE representatives, communities).

Only in 2014 almost 600 humanitarian experts were deployed to 49 countries, making NRCs rosters the most used expert deployment capacity in the humanitarian world.
Finally, NRC promotes and sustains efforts at different levels to keep high the attention on the condition and situation of displaced and vulnerable people affected by ongoing crisis.
