Responsibilities
General Responsibilities:

The MHPSS Officer supports Tdh mental health and psychosocial support interventions (MHPSS) delivered by Tdh and its partner. He/she will provide MHPSS technical support to the Tdh team members (Psychologists, Animators and volunteers) and partners in the field in ensuring that qualitative Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions and activities are being organised within the frame of Tdh response. S/he is responsible to design and conduct direct capacity building (training, on the job coaching, shadowing and supervision) for Tdh staff and volunteers. With the support of the Child Protection Regional Advisor, s/he provides MHPSS technical advice for focused and non-focused MHPSS activities which respond to identified needs the target population. S/he conducts regular assessment of the activities organized by the psychologists, animators and volunteers and develops monitoring tools that will ensure the quality of the intervention.
The MHPSS Officer works closely with other mental health and psychosocial support actors including local authorities to map and update as needed referral pathways, support and strengthen existing interventions. works under the supervision of the Program Manager as well as Regional CP/MIG advisor in order to ensure Tdh MHPSS expertise as well as regional/national programmatic strategy is reflected in the guidance provided to the team members. The MHPSS Officer will be based in Lattakia, and will be mobile based on the needs of the project.

Assessments and coordination:
- Support with MHPSS needs assessments of the target population, baseline studies, and periodic studies, and help feed back findings to Program Manager.
- Support efforts to map and identify external mental health and PSS services for referrals especially level 4 services
- Participate in MHPSS and CP Coordination Working Group in Lattakia to ensure alignment and representation of Tdh in coordination mechanisms.

Technical Support and monitoring
- Support Tdh team and partners in MHPSS response strategies and interventions to strengthen MHPSS service delivery.
- Ensure that activities are implemented in line Tdh’s Standard Operation Procedures and documentation requirements, adhere to the fundamental principles of Interagency Standing Committee MHPSS Guidelines (e.g. Do No Harm, Multi-layered supports, confidentiality & data protection, coordination, etc.).
- Plan activities in coordination with frontline workers (Psychologists, Animators and volunteers) to provide MHPSS to vulnerable displaced and host community children.
- Support psychologists, animators and volunteers with concrete activities to organize and implement with beneficiaries.
- Support Project Manager to organize resources and events with a MHPSS component that will support the project goal.
- Design capacity needs assessment for the psychologists, animators and volunteers in order to identify capacity building opportunities to improve MHPSS interventions
- Based on capacity needs assessment, develop capacity building plan for the team
- Train, coach and supervise psychologists, animators and volunteers in regard to MHPSS interventions specific technical support.
- Support Tdh team (Psychologists, Animators and volunteers) during implementation activities as requested
- Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to ensure the timely submission of accurate reports and data respecting data protection protocols and confidentiality.
- Ensure timely submission of weekly plans and reports to the line manager and technical supervisor.

Other responsibilities
- Ensure the adherence to the professional standards as well as the Code of Ethics for Tdh.
- Comply with Tdh safeguarding policy and security protocols.

Qualifications
- University degree in Psychology.
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with challenging environments.
- Knowledge of PFA and / or delivering organisational staff care would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of local legislation with regard to MHPSS care for children and local and national referral pathways.


Specific Vacancy Requirements
- Experience At least 2 years experience in similar position in the field.
- Previous experience of working with children.
- Previous experience with an NGO is desirable.
- Proven track record and experience in emergencies would be an advantage.

Languages:
- Fluent in Arabic and English (oral, and written).

IT Knowledges:
- Good IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, Internet).

Other Valid driving license will be an asset.
