Responsibilities
The Aga Khan Foundation in Syria seeks to employ a full-time Institutional Safety Officer- Emergency Management Department for its office in Salamieh.

JOB NUMBER: EM/ 01

JOB SUMMARY:

The Institutional Safety Officer will be responsible for advancing safety initiatives across AKF partners’ institutions in addition to overseeing the implementation of activities related to Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE), and the School Safety Programme (SSP) in collaboration with the Education Program Manager. He/ she shall also contribute to broader community and institutional safety efforts, working closely with UNMAS and other AKF programmes (with travel required to other Syrian governorates as needed). The incumbent will report directly to the Preparedness Manager.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with AKF partner institutions, particularly schools, to design and implement safety programs aligned with AKF organizational standards.
- Collaborate with the Education Program Manager to execute the SSP in schools and AKF-affiliated institutions, and integrate preparedness measures.
- Execute EORE activities in the communities and AKF-affiliated institutions in partnership with UNMAS.
- Review and develop SSP and EORE training content, and ensure the implementation of training sessions for institutional staff, educators, and community members.
- Coordinate with AKF programs to implement community awareness campaigns on EORE, targeting local communities and populations.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager to develop detailed annual, quarterly, and monthly plans, ensuring resource efficiency and alignment with AKF and partner priorities.
- Coordinate with the relevant departments to ensure timely, budgeting, logistical and procurement tasks to enable the effective implementation of SSP and EORE activities.
- Support and participate in M&E activities (under the coordination and guidance of MERL Officer), including baseline/end-line/midterm assessments, project-related surveys and data & information collection.
- Build partnerships with the SSP and EORE concerned stakeholders (national and local authorities, UNMAS and other related INGOs and communities) to advance objectives.



Qualifications

- The applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Disaster Risk Management, Emergency Management, Education, or a related social science field.
- At least two years of experience in institutional safety, education sector programmes, or emergency management.
- Ability to design and oversee the delivery of training sessions and awareness activities on safety and risk education.
- Proficiency in project implementation, including administrative procedures, financial oversight, and reporting.
- Effective collaboration with government authorities, UN agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Certifications in relevant fields, particularly in institutional safety, emergency response, and war remnant risk awareness.
- Dedication to promoting safety and resilience in complex operational contexts.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).
