Responsibilities
Overarching responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Manager, and with the technical support of the Child Protection Specialist, the Child Protection Officer is responsible for supervising case managers and monitoring the quality implementation of child protection activities in the field location The Child Protection Officer will make sure that the quality of the implementation of the child protection activities is done in alignment with Tdh’s policies and the respect of the protection principles applied to Tdh operations. He/She will provide technical support to Tdh’s project’s staff teams and the partners in the field in the daily implementation of the activities; will support in identifying the Child-Friendly Spaces based on the Child protection standards, and will provide basic capacity building to Tdh mobile teams and the partners as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

1- Technical support:
- Monitor, supervise and conduct performance reviews for CP case managers.
- Under the technical guidance of the Child Protection Specialist and in coordination with the Project Manager, assess the capacity building needs for the staff of Tdh and the partners.
- Train and sensitize social workers, CP mobile team, and community structures on CPMS and protection mainstreaming and other relevant trainings.
- Support the Child Protection Mobile Teams (CPMTs) in the field (visits, monitoring, coaching), and provide technical support for the CPMT with guidance from the CP Specialist.
- Conduct bi-monthly individual case supervision and group supervision for the case managers.
- Lead in the establishment and strengthening of CP community structures such as through training, awareness raising and mentoring in line with community led approaches.
- Submit weekly and monthly technical reports to the CP specialist and the PM.
- Review the field technical reports and develop action plans in cooridnarion with the CP specialist.

2- Quality assurance and learning:
- Monitor and assess implementation of the child protection activities, ensuring case managers are us-ing the case management standards and procedures and ensure safe data protection and management procedures.
- Child protection standards are applied and support the capacity-building efforts on child protection in the project team.
- Proactively participate in field missions, monitoring visits, and regular team meetings.
- Participate in regular program review meetings and provide technical and achievement reports.
- Assist with the development and delivery of child protection capacity-building activities like training and coaching in the area of case management, MHPSS, and alternative care placement including those implemented with and through partners.
- Assist the CP Specialist in conducting protection risk analysis for all partner and Tdh interventions and support in monitoring mitigation measures throughout project implementation.
- Participate in learning events/opportunities, including in face-to-face or virtual regional, global, and national learning events as required by the supervisor.

3- Representation:
- Represent Tdh in Protection and Child Protection Sub-National cluster meetings if needed.

4- Others:
- Knowledge of institutional policies and internal regulations of Terre des hommes.
- Respects Terre des hommes security procedures in Syria
- Any other duty as required by the supervisor.
- A professional sense of security, confidentiality, and proper representation is paramount. The in-cumbent will conduct her/his duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes and Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy. Terre des hommes expects that its contractors’ professional conduct reflects proper behaviour in accordance with local culture and traditions. The incumbent assures the moral protection of the name of Terre des hommes and defends in all circumstances the interests of the movement.


Qualifications
Qualifications:
A university degree; preferably in Social Sciences, International Devel-opment, or any equivalent experience.

Experience:
Minimum 4 years of child protection experience, especially in MHPSS, case management, delivering CP trainings, and in a similar position with international or national NGOs is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic.

IT know-how:
Familiar with usual IT tools.
