Responsibilities
1. Support as needed in the provision of legal counselling, consultations or representation to individuals identified during the project who have HLP or civil documentation issues or other legal needs.
2. Conduct awareness-raising sessions for community members and stakeholders on HLP and civil documentation.
3. Conduct assessments and regular monitoring in IDP and host communities through key informant interviews and focus groups, ensuring that assessments and monitoring forms are accurately filled and securely stored, maintaining beneficiary confidentiality and do-no-harm principles.
4. Collaborate with other programs such as MHPSS, Durable Solutions, Housing & Settlements, Livelihoods, Protection on joint programming and coordinated activities.
5. Actively contribute to strengthening referral systems and networks. Monitor legal case management activities and when required, coordination of response to individual cases of concern.
6. Support in conducting trainings on HLP and civil documentation to community-members and stakeholders.
7. Support in coordinating and liaising with local authorities, stakeholders and community representatives who will be relevant to the program.
8. Compile and create case profiles, reports and summarize, using tracking tools and reporting templates and follow up on progress of each case.
9. Report on progress and challenges in the implementation of activities through preparation of weekly/biweekly activity reports to the National Field Lawyer.
10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
• University degree in Law, Humanitarian Affairs, Political Science, Human Rights, Development Studies, or related field from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Specific Vacancy Requirements
• Field experience in implementing legal assistance (civil and HLP documentation) case management, protection, and human rights in a humanitarian/recovery context in an NGO or UN Agency.
• Field experience working with conflict affected populations in Syria.
• Experience in liaising with government authorities, other national/international technical counterparts and NGOs, and building effective partnerships.
• Willing to conduct constant travel within the Area of Responsibility.
• Excellent writing and reporting skills.
• Excellent oral/communication skills and ability to articulate ideas in a clear and accurate manner.
• Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and plan own work.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment.
• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by IOM; and
• Excellent facilitation and liaison skills.
