Responsibilities
Job Purpose:

Reporting to the GOAL Syria Grants Coordinator, and working closely with the Senior Grants Coordinator, Director of Program Development & Awards, programmes, systems, finance and other department colleagues, as well as partner organizations, the Grants Manager is responsible for new business development and grant management duties. In terms of new business development, this will include supporting the Senior Grants Coordinator and Grants Coordinator in funding strategy development, donor engagement, and proposal development. In terms of grant management, the Grants Manager will be assigned responsibility for grant management activities for a specific set of grants. This will include coordinating grant management meetings, donor reporting processes and information management. The Grants Manager will also contribute to regular programme review processes.  

Duties, objectives and competencies

New business development

Working closely with the Senior Grants Coordinator and Grants Coordinator, support the achievement of GOAL Syria funding objectives via the implementation of the GOAL Syria funding strategy.
Support the development of concepts and proposals, in accordance with GOAL Syria’s processes, which fit within GOAL Syria’s strategic objectives.
Review GOAL Syria’s partners’ proposals and budgets when requested, providing constructive feedback.

Grant management

Ensure a comprehensive grant reporting process is in place at the outset of each new grant – including the creation of templates and sharing of requirements, roles, responsibilities and timelines.
Manage donor reporting processes through the coordination and drafting of high-quality donor reports for the GOAL Syria grant portfolio, ensuring compliance with GOAL and donor requirements and timely submission to donors. Ensure quality standards are met.  
Ensure grant management meetings are conducted for assigned grants. Contribute to regular project review processes as required. 
Provide grants related inductions for existing and new GOAL staff.
Provide updates on the status of all grants under their remit.

External representation and information management

Distribute and share with relevant staff copies of all grant documentation (grant proposals, reports, budget etc.). Working with colleagues in HQ, ensure comprehensive grant files are maintained up to date and are available for use.
Respond to ad-hoc requests from GOAL Syria team, GOAL HQ, donors, and other stakeholders for information on the GOAL Syria programme.  
Attend relevant coordination or donor meetings representing GOAL and providing updates and flagging key issues of concern as requested.

The Grants Manager will be supported in the implementation of some of the duties listed above by the larger Grants team.  Other duties will be assigned by the Grants Coordinator and Senior Grants Coordinator.

Qualifications
Requirements (essential)

Bachelor’s degree in a subject relevant to position (e.g. social science, development studies, information management, project management, etc.)At least three years of experience in grant management and business development in the NGO, humanitarian/ development sector.
Experience in quality report and proposal writing; excellent writing and editorial skills
Fluency in English, including strong English writing skills
Computer literacy essential including proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.

Requirements (desired)

•Experience of working in Syria/for Syria related programmes.
•Experience with, or knowledge of with key Syria donor funding mechanisms such as DoS/BHA, FCDO, ECHO, AFS, OCHA
SHF/SCHF, etc.
•Familiarity with grant databases and funding platforms
•Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver results under tight deadlines.
•Good knowledge of donor compliance and requirements.
•Strong facilitation and negotiations skills
