Responsibilities
• Assist the Architect in charge of the project of Damascus Houses in project coordination, implementation, and site supervision.
• Provide support to the process of tender preparation, contractor pre-qualification and evaluation, and conduct site visits as required.
• Participate in the supervision of the implementations works, rehabilitation, and final project reception.
• Support financial and administrative controls in coordination with AKCS-S Financial Department, including budget preparation, expenditure planning and control, monthly cost and quantity tracking, invoicing, payment processing, and internal control systems in line with AKCS-S standards.
• Monitor project schedules, costs, quantities, quality, and compliance with contracts, specifications, standards, and AKCS-S procedures, and follow up on delays, risks, or corrective measures with contractors.
• Review, manage, and maintain construction documentation, including contracts, as-built drawings, change orders, invoices, and insurance documents.
• Participate in site and coordination meetings, prepare minutes, and contribute to periodic technical and financial progress reports.
• Support quality control activities, including defect identification and follow-up during construction and rehabilitation phases.
• Support post-construction activities, including as-built documentation, warranties, archiving, and project close-out reporting.
• Coordinate with local authorities, public services, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
• Develop and manage information system for monitoring project progress and controlling the reporting systems. Prepare the monthly schedule of progress monitoring including recovery plans.
• Conduct urban and social surveys and prepare reports related to the traditional urban fabric and neighborhood characteristics of the Old City of Damascus.
• Report any technical, administrative, financial, or site-related issues to project management.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.


Qualifications
• Architect University Degree, with a demonstrated previous experience in same field as this project.
• Knowledge of historical buildings and heritage preservation.
• Experience in site supervision, project coordination, and budgeting.
• Experience/knowledge of the traditional social and urban fabric field is required.
• Deeply oriented Architectural and Conservation expertise. Moreover, Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering knowledges Experience in the performance of the key responsibilities listed would be considered.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of project control principles relating to quality control, budgeting, scheduling, tracking of actual/committed costs, change control and forecasting.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving project requirements.
• Proficiency in Arabic and English, both written and oral.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera, Microsoft Project, and MS Office.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

The AKCS-S seeks to employ full-time Site Architect in the project of Damascus Old City. AKCS-S is performing preservation to three houses in the Old City of Damascus, and expects to develop some urban investigations within the Old City of Damascus. The expected period for the mission will be from the 20/02/2026 to the 31/12/2026, knowing that the period of the expected mission could be resume in 2027.
The Site Architect will support the AKCS-S Team Leader on all technical aspects of the project and contribute to related financial and administrative actions. The role includes coordination with key stakeholders (Project Director, Conservation Advisor, contractors and sub-contractors, AKCS-S Administration and Financial Department, DGAM, Directorate of the Old City of Damascus, local authorities, and public service entities), supervision of works and all related activities from the tendering process through implementation and final project reception, preparation of the rehabilitation phase, and support to project management tasks.
