Responsibilities
Reporting to the immediate superior, the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant provides technical and methodological support to operations teams. The role includes following up on monitoring plans, rolling out monitoring tools, and ensuring compliance with Tdh’s approaches and methods. The MEAL Assistant assists with data collection, processing, analysis, and the effective communication of monitoring information. They may also participate in internal evaluation processes as needed. Additionally, the MEAL Assistant plays a crucial role as the focal point for the Complaint Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM), managing feedback from the affected population and promoting CFRM channels.
Specific Responsibilities/Context of “tasks” :
Monitoring Activities:
-Contribute to the implementation of MEAL activities, including data collection and analysis, to ensure community participation in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Tdh programs.
-Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, adhering to ethical and methodological standards, and document findings in reports.
-Validate data provided by program teams using appropriate tools and compare them with MoVs.
-Train and supervise enumerators involved in occasional data collection activities.
-Notify the MEAL Manager of any contextual changes (risks and opportunities), challenges, or negative impacts on beneficiaries, service quality, or program progress.
-Help manage and organize MEAL information while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies at Tdh.
-Ensure proper archiving of all MEAL-related documents.
Communication and Reporting:
-Provide required MEAL information for writing reports for Tdh and donor use.
Evaluation and Learning:
-Support both internal and external evaluations by providing monitoring data and logistical assistance.
-Assist the MEAL Manager and Program Manager in documenting lessons learned and collecting best practices throughout the projects.
-If needed, support the MEAL Manager in providing local partners with necessary monitoring tools and guidance, based on coordination with the MEAL team.
Accountability:
-Act as the primary focal point for the CFRM within areas of intervention.
-Receive, record, and follow up on beneficiary feedback through the CFRM helpline and other channels, ensuring the CFRM database is updated with all related information.
-Conduct Focus Group Discussions with beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries to gather feedback on Tdh programs.
-Conduct verification processes, when required, to ensure selected individuals meet pre-defined eligibility criteria for support.

-Understands and applies Tdh policies and processes; Child Safeguarding Policy, Directives on Staff Misconduct, PSEA Policy, and Data Protection Policy and reports on any breaching incidents to the focal point.

Education:
-Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
-At least 1 year of experience in developing and implementing monitoring tools in the humanitarian aid and development sec-tor
-Experience in supporting internal and external MEAL activities: baselines/end-lines, routine monitoring, etc.
-Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative collection methods (Surveys, Focus Group Discussions…) in the humanitarian aid and development sector
Languages:
-Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
IT know-how:
-Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
-Ideally, experience with KoBo Toolbox.
-Bachelor’s degree.
