Responsibilities
General Role:
The Stabilization Support Unit (SSU) / Stabilization Orgnization is seeking to recruit Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Facilitators to work in both Manbij and Al-Safira.

The purpose of this position is to strengthen Gender-Based Violence prevention efforts through the design and implementation of awareness-raising and community engagement activities, capacity building of community committees, and the promotion of positive behavioral change within targeted communities. The GBV Facilitator will also be responsible for coordinating with technical teams, community committees, and relevant stakeholders to ensure that prevention interventions are implemented in accordance with humanitarian standards and best practices in protection and GBV programming.
This position requires strong communication, facilitation, and community engagement skills, as well as a solid understanding of gender, protection, and accountability principles. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to confidentiality, non-discrimination, and respect for the dignity and rights of beneficiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify the need for specific awareness/prevention topics and relevant GBV approaches within each community through various communication and assessment channels (e.g., analyzing reported trends, consulting with outreach volunteers/committees, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), surveys, etc.).
- Develop and design awareness plans—including types of activities, implementation methodologies, and target groups—utilizing the Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) approach to address the root causes of different types of GBV within the community and promote behavioral change.
- Design and implement activities for international campaigns, including International Women's Day (IWD) and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
- Identify and select committee members in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant guidance notes.
- Build the capacity of committee members on GBV, gender concepts, life skills, and other related topics, while identifying additional skill gaps and coordinating with relevant units to provide necessary training.
- Support committees in developing action plans to assess and address community needs, including community mobilization and engagement in activities.
- Facilitate the work of committees and ensure proper GBV mainstreaming across sectors by linking committees with different organizational units when planning activities and initiatives.
- Hold regular meetings (at least once a month) with committee members to follow up on capacity-building needs, support requirements, planned activities, and identified issues.
- Organize at least one annual event (recreational or celebratory) to recognize and appreciate the voluntary efforts of committee members.
- Share prevention plans with the GBV Coordinator/Supervisor for feedback, and with the UNHCR Field Office for comments and endorsement prior to implementation.
- Evaluate the impact of awareness and prevention activities, adjusting implementation modalities based on effectiveness.
- Ensure the correct and timely registration of prevention activities on the relevant data management tools (prevention data / committee data).
- Provide analytical and quantitative inputs for reporting purposes, including sex- and age-disaggregated data (SADD) as required.
- Share the findings of assessments, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and surveys conducted to evaluate topics related to GBV response and prevention.
- Safely refer GBV survivors to GBV case management services in strict accordance with established guidelines and principles.
- Participate actively in relevant meetings as required.
- Perform any other relevant assigned tasks.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in protection, gender-based violence programming, or community-based work within humanitarian or development organizations.
- Good knowledge of GBV concepts, protection principles, accountability to affected populations, and the Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) approach.
- Experience in designing and implementing awareness-raising, community mobilization, and facilitation activities, including workshops and group sessions.
- Ability to build positive relationships with local communities, community committees, and key stakeholders.
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prepare reports, document activities, and manage data accurately.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, email, and digital work tools.
- Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken; English language skills are considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates residing in the duty station or able to access it regularly.
