Trauma Medic (National)
Note: The work will be carried out across three governorates: Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama.
The Demining Trauma Medic is responsible for providing immediate emergency medical and trauma care to demining personnel in the event of an accident or medical emergency. The Medic maintains the team's medical readiness, ensures emergency medical equipment is available and serviceable, and supports the implementation of the approved site Medical and Emergency Response Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide immediate emergency and trauma medical care to personnel injured or affected during demining operations.
Maintain a continuous state of medical readiness throughout operational activities.
Ensure medical equipment, trauma kits, medications and other medical supplies are available, correctly maintained and within their expiry dates.
Conduct regular checks of the medical equipment and maintain appropriate medical records.
Maintain knowledge of the task site's Medical and Emergency Response Plan, casualty evacuation procedures and available medical facilities.
Coordinate with the Team Leader and relevant personnel during medical emergencies and casualty evacuation.
Assist with casualty preparation and handover to the designated ambulance or higher-level medical facility, as required.
Participate in medical and emergency response drills and exercises as required.
Provide medical advice to the Team Leader regarding the health and welfare of personnel where appropriate.
Monitor environmental and operational factors that may affect personnel health and safety, including heat stress, dehydration and fatigue.
Maintain confidentiality and appropriate records relating to medical incidents and treatment.
Ensure medical activities are conducted in accordance with the organization's approved SOPs, medical procedures and applicable mine-action standards.
Report medical incidents and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with organizational reporting requirements.
Carry out other medical duties within the scope of their qualifications and responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader or Operations Management.

Qualifications
Required:
- Qualified nurse or registered paramedic or trained in Intermediate Care Provision (IMAS 10.40)
- Practical experience working in an emergency unit or pre-hospital (ambulance) role or as a Trauma Medic in a humanitarian demining team is an asset
- Qualified nurse or registered paramedic or trained in Intermediate Care Provision (IMAS 10.40)

Specific Vacancy Requirements

GCS is a leading manufacturer of mine clearance machines and has completed several HMA projects in Iraq, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Mozambique, South Sudan and other countries. Since 2015, the company started producing the GCS-200/100 demining machines. With regional activities in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Qatar and the UAE, GCS has demonstrable experience in deploying teams for training and utilization of demining machines in the region. We have knowledge of the contamination levels in Syria after carrying out several exploratory visits since 2017. During subsequent visits, a need has been identified for sustained clearance activities. In 2023, GCS established a branch office which is 100% owned by GCS AG, with full accreditation from UNMAS-Syria. The registration and accreditation remain in force. GCS has started operations in Syria.
