Responsibilities
II. Context
The crisis in Syria has entered its eleventh year with few prospects for an imminent end to the violence that is faced on daily basis and impact the lives and exacerbate the vulnerability of children, women, the elderly, and the disabled.
In addition, the widespread displacement and deterioration of living conditions have negatively influenced the social and economic fabric of Syria.
As a response to the emerging needs of the Syrian population, and in line with the overall framework of the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP 2018), Strategic Framework for Syria (2016-2018) and UNDP Country Programme Document, UNDP Syria is working under three main portfolios: Infrastructure and Basic Service Rehabilitation, Socio-economic Recovery and Social Cohesion.
The project technician will be recruited, through a third-party contract, to support the production of fertilizer – Compost in Provide Organic fertilizer to wheat farmers project
III. Objectives of the Assignment
Disability inclusion unit at UNDP Syria country office has a comprehensive programme that can divided into 4 pillars:
1. Physical and mental wellbeing
2. socioeconomic integration
3. social norms and legislative frameworks
4. capacity development
One area for major enhancement is Physical Therapy under pillar one. It is also stated as one of the top priorities for enhancing disability inclusion in Syria as reported by the national assessment. UNDP approach in this regard will focus on providing Physical Therapy to PWDs ongoing projects and motivate them to properly integrate into their community environment.
To achieve these goals, the unit requests the support of a Specialist physical therapist through the provision of the services.
IV. Scope of work (Indicate if this is Time-Based Contract or Output Based)
The physical therapist assistant will be supervised by the Project Manager and the Socioeconomic and livelihood technical officer and will receive regular guidance from EDL project supervisor to fulfil the following tasks:
-Implement the appropriate plan developed by the physical therapist.
-Performing walking exercises and other functional activities of the patient under the supervision of the physical therapist.
-Assisting the physical therapist in filling out the patient’s file correctly and following up on its update.
-Follow up the work of the machines used in the treatment under the supervision of the physical therapist.
-Cooperating with the reception to coordinate patients’ appointments according to the plan set by the therapist.
-Assisting the physical therapist to organize patient files in the physical therapy department.
-Assisting the physical therapist in monitoring and evaluating the patient's condition.
-Assisting the therapist and the prosthetics technician in monitoring the patient's movement and helping him to walk.
-Any other duty assigned by the Project Manager.
V. Final product/Deliverables (For Output Based Contracts, clearly indicate milestones and percentage of total lump sum that will be paid for completion of each milestone)



Qualifications
VI: Competencies
-Core Competencies: 3-year experience in any specialty nearby, preferably with experience in working with NGOs.
-Excellent Organizing skills.
-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in Arabic Ability to meet deadlines.
-Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
-Ability to start working immediately

- Ability to perform a variety of specialized tasks related to Results Management,
-Shares knowledge and experience
-Actively works towards continuing personal learning, acts on learning plan and applies newly acquired skills

VII. Recruitment Qualifications
Education: at least health institute degree or a degree at the field required.
Experience: experience in relevant field
Language Requirements: Arabic
Core Competencies: as mentioned above
Functional/Technical Competencies: as mentioned above



Salary and Benefits
-This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Ease Access of Vulnerable Groups to the Legal Information- Qamishli
-Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position

-Duration and Type of Assignment: 5 Months
